The Olive Tree Hotel is a 25-storey business hotel which quite stylish that is also very comfortable and cozy.
Located along the industrial and corporate corridors of Bayan Lepas in Penang, and within reach to major landmarks such as the Penang International Airport, the Subterranean Penang International Convention and Exhibition Centre-SPICE, Penang First and Second Bridge,Sunshine Square Shopping Complex, Queensbay Mall and the Penang Free-Trade Zone it is located at a pretty great location….
There are 228 guest rooms and 24 suites in the hotel, and out of this 24 suites. Guests can choose between the Deluxe, the Executive Deluxe, the Junior Suite, the Executive Suite and the Olive Suite…
I was fortunate to put up at one of the deluxe rooms which was very comfortable and peaceful, a real haven to come back to after a hectic day outside, whether it was work or play…
The bed comes with a Chiro Tech mattress and microfiber pillows. The pillows were really soft yet firm and comfy.
Normally I would have a hard time sleeping in hotel rooms especially when I do not get enough pillows or if my pillows or mattress is not comfortable enough but here in my room at the Olive Tree Hotel? I slept like a baby…
Among the amenities offered was a 40 inch LED HD television mounted on the wall with an extensive range of cable channels… Love it!! I got to watch my DIVA universal , Mustika and a few other channels…
For gadget junkies like me, well, I have two smart phones, two cameras and my power bank so go figure…..there are ample plug points for local and also international plug points!!!
The furnishing in the room is definitely stylish and simple and there is an adjustable side table as well….which I used to put my things… huhuhu
Social Media junkies like myself will be very contented and happy with the High-speed Internet access here as well…
Besides that, there is an in-room safe deposit box, iron & ironing board, sarong & bedroom slippers, coffee & tea facilities and of course an in-room minibar
The toilet comes with ample towels, lovely bathroom amenities and a hair dryer and though there is no bathtub in the Deluxe room, they have a great shower stall there…..
I found a little corner near the lift area on the lobby area where there was an art work made from recycled netting and steel… and it was pretty creative and unique…
Is there a swimming pool here? You bet!!! Be prepared to be a mermaid in the aquarium, or a beluga whale… or what so ever aquatic animal you like because the swimming pool is kind of like an aquarium here…
…..but of course, be very careful of what you wear into the pool or you could be showing off more then you want to people sitting at the glass panel area.
As this is more of a business hotel, there is no kiddies pool… so sorry to all the small kiddos… This pool however is not very deep… just about 4 feet…
It is certainly enjoyable dipping inside this pool…the surroundings is also pretty neat .. with a nice view of part of Bayan Baru / Bayan Lepas….
If you are not so keen on the pool, they do have a nice gymnasium here as well as a yoga room….Or you could go and relax yourself at the Sauna or Spa ..
As for breakfast….. the hotel room comes with a free buffet breakfast, I think, and the buffet breakfast is served at Sukkah Coffee House.
If you are looking for a bite to eat with pals or loved ones in a cosy place, this should be it!!
I wasn’t sure what I was expecting and a three star hotel normally served very basic and simple buffet, but boy, was I wrong.. it was certainly a very generous spread…
There was a generous platter of cheese and another of cold chicken and smoked salmon!!!!!! Oh gosh… it is rare to find smoked salmon on the buffet spread…
Delicious pastries as well as nasi lemak and congee…
You can even have an omelette made to order or a plate of Char Koay Teow with fresh and sizable prawns…..
Anyway, besides Sukkah, there are three other F&B outlets here which is Seven, which is a perfect place to chill out after a busy day. Seven is a bar and it serves a variety of wines, spirits, cocktails and mocktails ……opened from 4pm to midnight (Sunday to Thursday) and 5pm to 1am (Friday and Saturday) with live band performances on all nights except Sunday
Then there is Cups & Mugs where you can actually take some time to enjoy their range of freshly made pastries or snacks and enjoy a cuppa coffee or tea….opened from 8am to 8pm daily…
And last but not least if you want some authentic Cantonese dishes and sumptuous plates of Dim Sum, you really have to check out the Oriental Spoon Halal Chinese Restaurant…
After all that has been said, thank you to Olive Tree Hotel for my awesome accommodations. I really loved my room, the pool and breakfast and I hope to be able to come stay again….

Was researching on Penang hotels and came across Olive Tree. Wanted something different from the brands we usually hear and this totally fits the bill.
