I was there for the preview of this year (2016) Buffet Ramadhan spread after hearing so many good raves about it last year, and naturally, it did not fail to impress…

Festive Variety Dinner at Contango (4 June to 5 July)

Contango is a luxuriously designed contemporary restaurant with a seating capacity for 250 people. You will be sure to experience an exceptional dining experience there with an interactive dining concept with two open kitchens that serves a sheer variety of local and international cuisine freshly prepared to order, with of course a special focus on local Malay cuisine for the holy month of Ramadhan.

Indulge your senses with the taste of the northern flavours at the nasi kandar section for mouth-watering dishes such as kari ikan tenggiri, ketam kari masak, sotong kari and dalcha sayur…

Have those yummy dishes with some really flavourful daging briyani with soft and fragrant nasi briyani seasoned with local spices, turmeric and shallots or nasi putih.

Other side dishes to be had includes crispy fried chicken, fried prawn, fried quail and fried fish accompanied with deep fried bitter gourd and papadom available throughout the festive season….they are so mouthwateringly fragrant, resistance is futile….

The Festive Variety Dinner at Contango will be held from 4 June to 5 July and is priced at RM145 nett per person.

or… my personal favorite, the sup kambing berempah (spiced mutton soup) … just so appetizing and delicious…

Laksa lovers cannot say no to these…..you can put as little or as many condiments you like on your laksa…

Do not forget local favourites the roti canai and the murtabak… try it with the scrumptious chicken curry… it is just so lip smacking good…I went a little over board with the curry as it was just so yummy… hahaha

Some local favorites… from a variety of keropok/ crackers as well as some serunding /meat floss….

And what is a local meal without the well known ulam-ulaman/ local salad and accompanying sauces such as sambal belacan, cincalok, budu etc…..I enjoyed the salted duck egg and the otak-otak or was it called botak-botak… lol…the taste was just like the normal nyonya otak-otak but with the consistency of some fishball/ fishcakes…

It is always a must to have some sweet endings to a good meal.. choose what you want in your ABC / Ice Kacang….

Indulge in some very yummy ice cream…. I seriously recommend the raspberry or pineapple sorbet or the chocolate ice cream!!! My personal favourites….

For those who like some piping hot/warm desserts, check out the Apple Crumble or Bread and Butter Pudding… eaten with the cream/ custard sauce that comes with it, it is delectable….

I cannot get enough of these Onde Onde or Buah Melaka… as it is one of my favourite local kuih. Sadly, not everyone makes it perfectly…And this one is just perfect with a nice little crunchy chunk of gula melaka inside it…one bite and I feel like I am almost in heaven…

Those who like fried dishes like my husband would definitely enjoy the Banana Fritters/ Pisang Goreng or other assorted fritters….

The generous array of desserts featuring local delights such as kuih peneram, seri muka, tapai pulut,tapai ubi are all tasty … from Raya cookies to the bubur kacang hijau with durian, serawa durian/ santan durian and pengat pisang (one of the most yummiest around)….

Well, don’t just take my words for it, you have to try it out yourself !!!!
