Mandara Spa: Rejuvenating Body and Mind

I always categorise my trips by two main categories… One would be a vacation, which in my term means rest, relax and unwind… vacation normally happens in Malaysia where we can just check into any hotel, take our time, rest, relax and chill and let time pass you by…. Then there is traveling, which in my term means sightseeing in another country… and this is pretty hectic as when I am traveling , I tend to want to squeeze in as many places, or as many things in my schedule as I can… After all in my point of view, and considering the pathetic condition of my bank account, I cannot afford to travel as much as I can, and I would probably ever visit one country once or twice in my lifetime, unless it is neighbouring countries like Thailand or Singapore…

And that was what that happened in my trip to Seoul recently… I crammed my days there with as much activities and places to go as I could or as I could force my body or legs to endure.. and for that, when I arrived back in Malaysia, my body was on the verge of collapse… huhuh

So I booked myself some nice spa time at the renowned Mandara Spa, at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur.. for their Harmony Spa package…

Mandara Spa’s story began on the spiritual island of Bali, where a true reverence for the healing arts was discovered and passed down from generation to generation, from mother to daughter, from father to son in the lovely island of Bali, and as such is deeply entwined in the Balinese way of life. And until today Mandara offers each of their guest the ultimate luxuriously healing experience.

The Mandara Spa at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel is a luxurious urban retreat especially for weary bodies like mine…

The unique two-storey spa is located at the East Wing, next to the Fitness Center and easily accessible through the Renaissance KL’s stunning swimming pool area.

The Spa features double and single Deluxe Spa Suites with en-suite bath and steam shower to provide you with the ultimate Spa journey; whilst other treatment rooms offer steam shower or shower only facilities. Relaxing foot massage, manicure and pedicure treatments are available in a specially designated area.

Just as I stepped into the spa area, I could smell the exotic aromas of spices and pure essential oils, and listen to the gentle sounds of soothing music, that lulled me into a state of relaxed bliss. There is no better place I can think of  to head to for relaxation and sublime indulgence.

I was shown into a Single Spa Suite with Steam Shower and Bath and it was a beautiful room… I got changed into a disposable panty and a sarong.

I was given the Harmony Spa package which included an Aromatherapy Floral Footbath, where I was asked which of the aromatherapy oils I preferred. My feet were gently washed, scrubbed with salt and buffed with the starfish shaped pumice stone and dried before I was led to the massage table..

There I was given a Lavender Body Wash before getting my Traditional Body Scrub (You will be asked which kind of scrub you prefer as well, as for me, I selected the Balinese Boreh scrub which was kind of ‘hot’ with the hope of dispelling wind from my body.. huhuh…

Once the scrub was done, I was wrapped up and left for about 5 minutes before being asked to take a shower to wash off the scrub particles…

When I came out from my shower, I happily sank into the nice warm bubbly Aromatherapy Floral Bath with pretty little flowers in it….Ahhh… bliss….

While soaking up the goodness of aromatherapy, my therapist, a pretty young Sabahan girl brought me a nice pot of ginger tea and some Danish cookies to munch on…

The bath took about 15 to 20 minutes, I think.. all I know was I was soaking there, inhaling the lovely Lavender or was it Harmony blend aromatherapy scent I selected, unaware and definitely not counting the minutes….

My therapist was the one who came up to me and told me it was time for her to do some massage for me….and so reluctantly I got out from the tub and rinse off the bubbles before getting on the freshly changed sheets placed on the massage table..

Oh wow.. the Balinese Massage was truly heavenly as my therapist kneaded the stress and tension away from my muscles and body. Looking at her it is hard to envision the pretty petite girl has so much strength in her fingers…as I had to request for her to do it moderately… huhuhu

And after the massage, I got changed and sadly left the spa… Yeah… I do not think 2 hours is long enough… hahahah… Need more pampering.. so I guess that is just for another day….

So there you have it, having a tired mind and body?? Rejuvenate yourself and your senses with some nice spa time….

  1. I can’t wait to book a session there after reading your review and appreciating the relaxing mood conveyed in your photos. I definitely need a pampering time-out.
