Review: Ombak Villa by Langkawi Lagoon Resorts

Facing the crystalline waters of the Andaman Sea on the western-most coast part of Langkawi Island,   offering an irresistible combination of old world charm and modern luxury…Ombak Villa by the Langkawi Lagoon Resort is very #dekatje (near) , how can it not be when it is so conveniently located just 3 km or approximately 5-min drive from the Langkawi International Airport and Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre. There was a shuttle van which met us and picked us up from the airport and sent us straight to the elevated reception lobby where we checked in. The reception is breathtaking with an open high ceiling overlooking the Andaman Sea.

From the reception, you can get a buggy cart ride to your rooms or walk there if you prefer…

I was pretty lucky to get a whole suite to myself with a king sized bed in it but while waiting for my suite to be ready, since we were there way before the actual check in time, I was at another suite with some of my new friends who traveled from Subang to here with me…and had the time to check their suite out…

This suite is more of a family suite with a king sized bed and a queen sized bed… It is on the ground floor and is quite bright and cheery with a pathway to the expansive gardens of the Ombak Villa area…

The Ombak Villa Suites are truly a perfect blend of traditional Malay architecture with modern contemporary interior design.

My room key was then delivered to me within half an hour (but please be reminded we checked in before the allocated time..as we were there at about 12 pm and the official check in time was 3pm!!) and so I went on my merry little way to my room which was located on the first floor in the next building. Each block/building has 3 floors, and each floor has 4 rooms…

I really could not suppress my wonderment as I entered my suite…It was breathtakingly stunning!! If the family suite where my friends were staying was lovely, this was 2x even more gorgeous… and it was just so tranquil and serene.

My suite came with one of the most gorgeous bathrooms ever too, a private balcony and a lovely comfortable king sized bed. Naturally, with time to kill and all at my own leisure, I could not resist trying out the bath….

I have to say I love the towels here, they are fluffy and very clean and smells pretty fragrant, unlike some other hotels where you sometimes can smell bleach.. This one I cannot stop smelling….. hah, crazy woman here!!!

When I came back to the room after the Iftar Angkasawan 2016 event/function which was held at the Dewan Kenchana right across our rooms, my bed was nicely turned down, the rubbish cleared and well, they had also thoughtfully set up and turned on the mosquito mat vaporizer for me…

You may either choose to stay at one of the 76 units of Ombak Suite; or if you are on a honeymoon, check out the extravagance Seroja Suite or if you can afford it splurge on the most luxury Villa Seri Kasturi with your besties or your beloved family members….

There is the infinity swimming pool which you can soak your worries away and gaze out to the Sea Village and the Andaman Sea…. I heard there is also a gymnasium, but I forgot to check it out…

There is the Bayu Restaurant where you can have your breakfast or other meals as well as the  Amai Bistro which is there to cater to those who want to relax and unwind by the beach.

I always love checking out the sunrise early in the morning, but I was disappointed that the sunrise rose behind the buildings, not at the sea. So it means if you had the time, do catch the sunset.. it would have been spectacular I am sure…

Nevertheless, it was an amazing experience taking a stroll through the Langkawi Lagoon Resort and even checking out the fascinating Sea Village…The place is so pretty but needed some maintenance.

My thoughts: I had totally no complaints about my room. It is super gorgeous and I really love it. My bed and pillows were really very comfortable. The area around Ombak Suites and Villa is very clean and well kept as well, and most of the staff are friendly, but they might be slightly short staffed considering my room service was a little late.

I just hope they will continue to maintain Ombak Villa properly as the some of the other parts of Langkawi Lagoon definitely need some restorations and renovations as well as better maintenance.

And before you have to ask, yes, yes, yes, I really do want to come back here to the Ombak Villa given the chance…. I love it here!!!!

Thanks to MK Land and Ombak Villa by Langkawi Lagoon Resort for having me here….

Note: getting to Pantai Cenang is not a problem, you can get the receptionist to get a taxi. It only cost about RM20 to get there and back….Got the info from a journalist friend who went to get his chocolates in Pantai Cenang.
