Slappy Cakes Sunway Pyramid, Subang, Selangor

To be honest, I learned about Slappy Cakes from my daughter, Anne… We were at Resorts World Sentosa back then and she spotted the Slappy Cakes outlet there and pleaded to go there…the one in Singapore is not a Halal restaurant, but well, we went there for the pancakes…

My daughter learned of it apparently from one of her then favourite Nickelodeon shows, Sam and Cat, she was watching then, and being impressionable she wanted to visit the place badly,… that was of course a few years ago before Slappy Cakes made their way to Malaysia…

Slappy Cakes originated from Portland, Oregon which is best known for being a brunch town in the USA. Slappy Cakes then decided to combine eating brunch and do-it-yourself cooking. And because of that, Slappy Cakes might also serve lunch and dinner but Slappy Cakes is still best known for pancakes, drinks and fun!

My daughter and I were invited to the new Slappy Cakes at Sunway Pyramid, which is a Pork Free restaurant, which was located at The Parenthood playland, obviously targeting families and kids..

Slappy Cakes is the perfect place where you can let the kids learn how to cook and they will be more then willing to, afterall where can they get the chance to play with their food before eating them and not get scolded… hahahah…  it is also a chance to draw your own pancakes, and show off creations.

Just choose your favorite pancake batter flavour that are made from scratch every day There are 4 flavors available: Buttermilk, Chocolate, Pandan and Peanut Butter.

Our favourite pancake batter would have to be Buttermilk since I always preferred my pancake sweet. You might like to request for the chocolate batter too as it is the best way to outline your artwork and it goes with all other flavours!

The griddles and utensils are all with non-stick and anti-burn technology but of course, you have to warn and watch that the kids do not burn their hands on the griddles….

I normally prefer my pancake with fruits and/or honey/maple syrup….  But there are 12 sweet and 4 savory fixins for you to choose from, it’s definitely not an easy task.

Slappy Cakes do also offer ready made pancakes for those who are lazy to make their own.

If you are not in the mood for pancakes, there are plenty more from the menu you can also choose from…

Slappy Cakes also offer Breakfast Special sets from 8.30am to 11am where you can choose from Mini Classic Breakfast RM15, Junior Benedict RM15, Mini Omelet RM12, Mini Scrambled Egg RM12 and Classic Pancake RM9. You can order any of these meals which actually comes served with FREE coffee or hot tea…

Or if you are a fan of benedicts,  the Slappy Benedict RM26 is a good choice… with sautéed baby spinach, turkey ham, mushrooms, tomato garlic puree, two poached eggs on homemade English muffin covered with hollandaise sauce…. Served with some potatoes…

These breakfast dishes is available for all day dining…

Do be sure to check out the Slappy Set Lunch menu as well which you can order anytime between 12pm to 3pm which comes served with iced-tea….

Some of the other interesting dishes we got to check out were the Spaghetti Meat Sauce RM26, consisting of marinara chicken with onion, parmesan cheese, cherry tomato and sourdough….

…or the Grill Chicken Pesto Spaghetti RM30 with pesto sauce, grilled chicken chop, cherry tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts and croutons…

If you like spicy dishes, the Creamy Curry Chicken Spaghetti RM30 is pretty yummy.. with Maryland chicken, onions, carrots, broccoli and served with their special cream curry sauce…. I actually liked it…lots…

If you are here with a family two to four with a good appetite, you might like to consider the Combo Set RM68, which comes with lamb chops, fish, chicken chop, fries, mix salad, pancakes and chicken sausage…. And served with tartar sauce, mustard mint sauce and mushroom sauce…

Slappy Cakes do have some pretty nice desserts you might like to check out too.. and refreshments… my favourite would have to be the Slappy Lemonade RM9…

And last but not least, there are some Slappy souvenirs you can purchase and bring home with you if you like that kind of things…

Overall, the food is good and will be an amazing fun place to bring the kids as they will have plenty of fun… the ambience is also great, bright and cheery with lots of natural light during the day…

The service is a little haphazard and slow though, but I think it was because there were too many people and maybe not enough staff…

But hey, do go check out this place… especially with the kids or the young at heart….

  1. What great idea it is to allow people to create their own pancakes. The other dishes look so appetising as well. Never heard of Slappy Cakes till I read this post. How behind time I am LOL
