As someone bitten by the wanderlust bug, every now and then there is nothing better than a brief change of environment, and it is what I crave, and that is why travel is my favourite thing to do, however, we cannot always be traveling, so a staycation somewhere near home is just the next best thing… Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel was just perfect for a nice staycation in town.

Strategically located at the corner of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Ampang, overlooking one of the world’s tallest buildings – the Petronas Twin Towers and the majestic Menara Kuala Lumpur, this 5-star luxury Renaissance hotel is just perfect for both business and leisure travellers….

I checked in at the reception and was given a nice glass of refreshing cincau as a welcome drink, then the guest relations officer/ front office officer, Shawn brought me to the West Wing lobby and showed me how I could get to my room… which was one of the newly restyled West Wing guest rooms.

The lift took me up to my room in just a bit, and I opened the door to my room and my jaw fell opened….

The room I was given was a Deluxe room with a king bed, and a semi circular sofa… the room was definitely cheery with a fresh and contemporary design – sophisticated, tasteful and sleek, reflecting the key personalities of a Renaissance Discoverer who celebrates all things that contribute to living a life less ordinary.

My room was certainly spacious, and came with luxury amenities any savvy urban traveler would appreciate. Taking on a neutral colour palette, the ergonomically designed room is fitted with re-engineered wood flooring, a day bed as an extra bed and the luxurious Marriott’s Plush Bedding with topper and rich linen.

I am not too fond of making videos as I am not a good videograper, but here is my little video clip of the room….

The bathroom is installed with 4 bay bathroom fixtures with rain shower and came with some luxury ‘Tokyomilk’ by Margot Elena toiletries and amenities….and yeah baby… my room came with a bath…. Much to my mini me’s delight….

We watched Fox Movies, Nickelodeon, TLC etc over a Samsung 48” full HD Smart TV and connected on the complimentary Internet… while snacking on the chocolate confectionery and welcome platter Renaissance Hotel had awaiting inside our room on a glass platter…

I liked that our room door was equipped with the high tech radio frequency IC door lock system (RFID) where you just need to touch your card to the door and it opens…  and you can see the IP camera security system around in the corridors for safety purposes…

I got to take a peek inside one of the LifeStyle rooms on the upper floors in the East Wing which was contemporary in design, and furnished with plush bedding as well as a sofa bed.. it is slightly smaller than the rooms I am enjoying at the West Wing but the exquisite interior is still very welcoming and  warm. It comes with some extravagant touches and up to date conveniences coupled with high speed technology make it complete for the business travelers to conduct their work.

Since we checked in on a Friday, there was a little cocktail treat in the lobby for guests to indulge in at around 6.30pm. Little treats like cream puffs, club sandwiches, cupcakes and some hor d’oeuvres were served as well as some blue mocktail…

I got to check out the Mandara Spa there and booked myself an appointment for a Balinese massage for the next day…

..and I was pretty impressed with the fitness centre here at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur as well… it was huge at 1,300 m2 and pretty extensively as well equipped as any of those fancy schmancy gyms you pay a lot for…  and the fitness centre here is opened 24/7 enabling you to work out whenever you want.

The locker rooms here come with sauna and steam rooms as well as a Jacuzzi as well… and there is also a couple of tennis courts you can make use of if you feel like it…and if you are looking for a gym to join, this might be a good place to join as it comes with free parking, a free buffet dinner….

Dinner was a simple affair at TEMPTationS where its striking and colourful décor was definitely eye catching, yet pleasing and where authentic Asian and International fare served at the buffet line tempted you… after dinner, we then we retired to our room to unwind and rest…

The bed was not only inviting … Yes, yes, yes, it is also very comfortable… in fact, it is super duper comfy, it was like sleeping on a fluffy cloud, and I didn’t want to come out from the bed even when it was time to get up….huhuhu…

But well, I had to get up… and head to breakfast… and decided to take the scenic and short cut there, which is through the swimming pool on level 4

After breakfast was over I headed to the Mandara Spa for my Balinese massage, while my mini me and hubby headed over to the gorgeously landscaped Olympic size free flow swimming pool to relax …

I am no stranger to the Mandara Spa here at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel as it is a luxurious urban retreat I enjoy visiting…

The unique two-storey spa is located at the East Wing, next to the Fitness Center and can also be accessible from the swimming pool level. The Spa features double and single Deluxe Spa Suites with en-suite bath and steam shower to provide you with the ultimate Spa experience…

Just as you enter the premises, you will be welcomed by the exotic aromas of spices and pure essential oils, and the gentle sounds of soothing music, in my case, the melodic tunes of the Sabilulungan I fell in love with when I was in Bali, very apt, since I was there for The Balinese massage, which you can choose from a 50 mins or 1 hr 20 mins session… I was there for the 50 mins one, and it was definitely one of the most relaxing massage I ever had, using the therapeutic properties of 100% pure essential oils.

Before I was brought into a treatment room, I was treated to a refreshing drink of cold ginger tea and cold mint towel to freshen up…

Then the therapist introduced me to the four different essential oils they use and asked me which one I preferred before I was brought to a single Deluxe Spa Suite…

The suite was spacious, clean, and luxurious of course…

and I changed into the wrap around sarong and disposable briefs provided before the therapist came in to begin her treatment…

Used for centuries to renew, strengthen and heal both body and mind, the Balinese massage is a very relaxing massage done to relieve tension, improve blood flow, ease stress and calm the mind. It can also help to improve the circulatory, lymphatic, muscular and nervous systems. It is also perfect if you have just arrived from a long distance and suffering from jetlag.. just combine the Balinese massage with the Tranquility massage oil blend, which I did and I was really dozing off at the massage table…

The Mandara Spa is perfect place for relaxation, inspiration and sublime indulgence.

Choose from a range of treatments incorporating the wisdom of ancient cultures with the latest Spa science from Elemis spa-therapies or choose to pamper yourself with some relaxing foot massage, manicure and pedicure treatments all available in the Spa Menu

After my treatment at the Mandara Spa, I had to return to my room and pack to check out as it was then nearly noon, and like everything there is, all good things have to come to an end… checking out was quick and friendly yet, professional.

Overall I have totally no complaints about my stay here… The staff here are very friendly and make you feel comfortable and the amenities are all luxurious.

I really was in love with the room I stayed in, with the magnificent view of the KL Tower and everything else in the room. My hubby was impressed with the Illy expresso I brewed for him with the coffee machine in the room and enjoyed his little trips to the lounge or swimming pool area where he could smoke…

He also loved the rain shower in the shower stall while I preferred the hand held shower, my daughter on the other hand loved the bath tub.. and so did her mother… hehehe

  1. It is such a beautiful stay. Reading this post made me realized that I badly need a staycation. Just a comfy bed, watching tv while eating chocolate would be perfect. Would consider this place when we visit KL.
