AVENUE J HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR

I love going on FAM trips as sometimes we get to discover interesting places which we tend to take for granted and sometime overlook.…

And it was just exactly the case with the Avenue J Hotel where we got to stay at during my recent FAM trip with the team from AboutKL

The breathtaking hotel is actually located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, very grand and very much like something I would find in olden England or Europe, right at the corner just by the bank of the Gombak River, right next door to the Malaysian Bar Council. It is smacked right behind Central Market annex building, and yes, it is so easily accessible via Central Market as well as all you have to do is walk to the back of Central Market and you will see the Annex building. Turn left and then turn right and the Avenue J Hotel just right there!

The hotel has an interesting rusticated façade with exaggerated keystones, which screams simple elegance of the entire building. It is a gorgeous 72-rooms boutique hotel, that combines modern comfort and quiet luxury ideal for those who wanderlust. The hotel was just opened not too long back  in September 2016.

Avenue J Hotel is a perfectly hotel convenient and close to so many famous landmarks in Kuala Lumpur. It is about five minutes walk to the Masjid Jamek LRT station, with access to both RapidKL’s Kelana Jaya Line and Ampang/Sri Petaling Lines, if you cross the road and walk towards the Old Market Square, or you can walk to Central Market in less then 5 minutes and the Pasar Seni LRT on RapidKL’s Kelana Jaya Line in less 10 minutes.

All main buses to everywhere else in the entire Klang Valley is also within walking distance. Petaling Street/ Chinatown is just 10 minutes walk, and so is the KL City Gallery, KL Library, Dataran Merdeka, Sultan Abdul Samad building and the Panggung Bandaraya where they showcases the MUD The Musical. You certainly cannot find a better hotel then this around here especially if you are keen to explore the heritage places in Kuala Lumpur.

I was fortunate to have been given a corner room on the second floor. It was clean and the ambiance was one of modern minimalistic.

It came with the most comfortable Queen bed with generous plump pillows and a couple of additional cushions and a lovely view from my window… it is certainly perfect for any solo travellers or couples who are looking for comfort in recharging quietly after a long day of adventure. I definitely found it hard to get out from my bed, even when it was time to get out because it was just so comfortable…

The bathroom may be a little small but the warm showers and the water pressure is good…The air conditioned rooms comes with television LCD/plasma screen, complimentary WiFi, coffee/tea making facilities, hairdryer, complimentary toiletries and a safe .

Avenue J Hotel serves a simple continental breakfast in the living room, which is also available to non guests, consisting of bread and condiments, pastries, cornflakes with milk and juice, pretty filling unless you are used to a heavy breakfast and looking for more, but if you are, no worries, there is the 7 Eleven just across the road, about 3 minutes walk at the Loke Yew building or turn right from the entrance of the hotel to a pretty well stocked NewsPlus convenience store.

Right across the road you can find the Kafe Old Market Square, a rich in heritage kopitiam/coffee shop serving great local dishes for breakfast as well.
