The Cristallo di Luna is an elegant fine dining restaurant tucked away on the 34th floor of the Pacific Regency Hotel in Jalan Punchak, just opposite the KL Tower
From the lobby of the Pacific Regency, you have to take the lift up to 33rd floor and then walk up the staircase, where the Cristallo di Luna is located on your right….
When you enter the restaurant, you could just feel your breath catch like mine did as you take in the elegant dining area with dangling crystal chandeliers and floor to ceiling glass window affording diners a magnificent view of the city including one of the gorgeous and majestic KL Tower….
Naturally, this is a place made for romance, for wooing the person you have in your heart, for proposing to him or her , for anniversaries, birthdays and just about any special occasion as the ambience is just perfect for it….
The restaurant serves some pretty affordable yet yummy fine dining and yours truly was thrilled to have had the chance of being there with friends from the AboutKL and Gaya Travel team, and it is always so much fun dining with these group of familiar faces and meeting a couple of other new people…
I have to admit though that my table manners are somewhat atrocious at times considering I am not someone from the upper class society and it can be slightly confusing with the many forks and knives around and I certainly hope I did not embarrass my friends…
We had some nice hot buns served for starters and there is just nothing like the smell of freshly baked bread or well, warm bread and when it has some melting butter in it, I am contented to eating just even that…
We then ordered what we wanted.… from the menu
And for my appetizer, I had some Salmon Carpaccio – Pacific salmon carpaccio on garlic aioli served with roasted mushroom and wild rocket leaves /RM30 – I love salmon… and I can never resist mushrooms… so this was definitely my favourite.. no qualms about it…
I skipped salad and went for soup… and ordered me a Classic French Onion Soup with Gruyere Crouton/ RM25 and was slightly disappointed as the soup was actually pretty thick… ummm… I was more used to the more watered down French Onion Soup with onions slices floating around with croutons and sinful melted cheese on top.. there was no cheese here and the soup consistency was a bit too thick and rich and there was one big crouton there… the taste is not too bad though, perhaps a little too salty..
For my main course, I elected to indulge my taste buds on the Pan seared Norwegian Salmon Steak with seafood ragout and buttered bok choy/RM47 which was just delicious… I definitely love the combination and the salmon was just fresh and delicate…
I could not resist trying the Spaghetti Crustacean which was served with Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab and a Fresh Water Prawn/RM55… it was definitely scrumptious though I have to say the crab was a teeny bit too salty for my taste….
I was too full after that to have any dessert but I quenched my thirst with a lovely glass of Fruit Punch, while my friends had coffee and tea..…and admired the amazing night view from the windows before calling it a night….
I think they do have some monthly specials and that for the month of March it is something to do with Salmon and health… so you should check it out if you want….
