So yours truly was over at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s coffee house, Melting Pot Café to check out and try some of the best of Straits Chinese or Peranakan flavours which is currently available from March 6 – 26, 2017.
Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur has invited guest Chef Adriana Tan, a passionate Nyonya chef from Melaka to whip up some nyonya delights for diners during the buffet lunch and dinner promotion. Chef Adriana actually runs a catering business from her home in Ayer Keroh, known as Adriana Nyonya Delights. Her homecooked meals are definitely well known and well loved amongst her regular customers in Melaka, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
So, if you are around Kuala Lumpur’s golden triangle, do stop by the Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur and try out her signature nyonya laksa, mee siam, ayam pong teh and nyonya kuih. Chef Adriana Tan is sharing her family recipes here at the Concorde during the promotion period…
Start off your meal with some delectable appetizers such as the sambal timun with fish cake, sambal mangga and otak-otak nyonya.
Each night, the buffet will feature selection of appetizers, main dishes and sweet section featuring nyonya kuih-kuih.
You must also try your hand creating your own pie tee/ top hat with the DIY pie tee.
Chef Adriana’s nyonya laksa and mee siam are a must-try!
I was definitely spoilt for choices trying out the main dishes, since there were just so many mouthwatering and delectable dishes such as the ayam pong teh, ayam rendang nyonya, ayam tempra, sek ark (braised duck), chap chye, kangkung belacan and sample nyonya style asam pedas, cooked with tenggiri, pari, snapper, garoupa and chicken.
Another variation is having asam pedas cooked with vegetables.
Amongst some of the dishes served are also the nyonya asam pedas bendi, peria, terung, kobis, sambal udang petai, sambal sotong, sambal ketam, sambal kupang petai.
It is almost an impossible feat to save some space to taste Chef Adriana Tan’s kuih-kuih such as the abok-abok sago, pulut tekan served with homemade kaya, onde-onde, kuih bongkong, kuih ang koo, kuih genggang, kuih seri muka, kuih kosui pandan, kuih kosui gula Melaka and apam balik durian.
The buffet menu rotates on a daily basis, so you can pop in as often as you like and have something different everyday….
