Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel went dark to shine a light on climate action with Earth Hour 2017.

The hotel joined millions around the world in turning off lights for one whole hour on the 25 March at 8.30pm local time to illuminate a powerful message about environmental awareness and action.

The annual global environmental awareness event was created and instituted by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in 2007 to emphasize the threat of climate change.

Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel participated by switching off non-essential interior and exterior lighting such as the West Wing chandelier and the East Wing Lobby ceiling lights, TEMPTationS and Dynasty restaurants lights were dimmed, candles were lighted at Mezzo Bar and Lobby Lounge, in-room television messages to inform guests about Earth Hour observances.

Hotel guests were treated to an extension of the Evenings at Renaissance with a sampling of Earth Grown light bites and green mocktail/cocktail courtesy of the hotel.

Evenings at Renaissance is a signal that the 9 to 5 working day is over and it is time to transition into an incredible evening of discovery.

At Renaissance Hotels around the globe, guests and locals are encouraged to take time for their #5to9. A signature Bar Ritual centered on local craft beverages kicks off the Evenings at Renaissance.

Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel also shared Earth Hour messages on the hotel’s social media platforms supporting WWF’s call to shine a light on climate action and do its part to change climate change.

By demonstrating these efforts on social media, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel participated in Marriott International’s drive to raise funds for WWF, where US $1 will be donated for each Marriott property that tweets their Earth Hour activities.
