Yours truly was one of the invited members of the media who got to attend the spectacular and glamorous launch in Bukit Bintang’s ultimate luxury fashion and lifestyle retail destination, the Starhill Gallery…
Guests there indulged themselves with delicious canapes and juices from Shook!, luxurious pop up stores with delicious passionfruit honey ice cream from Softsrve, tea from TeaLive and those who weren’t Muslims indulged themselves with G.H Mumm Champagne and Absolut Hibiskus cocktails… for those with sweet tooth, there was even a cotton candy station available and some yummy pastries from Armani Dolci, all this on the opening night of the Starhill Gallery Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur Spring/Summer 2017..
It was certainly an amazing evening for me spending time and catching up with media friends and fashion designers and well, rubbing shoulders with the socialites and so on…while getting to check out the latest trends of 2017’s Spring/Summer collections that were unveiled by exclusive designer labels housed in Starhill Gallery such as Valentino, Kenzo, McQ Alexander McQueen, M Missoni, Debenhams, Mita Tam Style Studio and iKarrtini…
These leading names in the International and Malaysian fashion scene took to the catwalk, mesmerizing guests at the runway show with their breath-taking and inspiring designs.. Red carpet gowns, runway pieces, graphic prints, vibrant colours and neon lights are so definitely in season…
Kenzo opened the runway show with cultural euphoria characterizing expressions of freedom in men and women’s wear…Ponchos, parkas, military jackets, blouses and dresses were deconstructed into feather-light and voluminous silhouettes with technical taffetas with metal snaps and drawstrings for an industrial feel…
M Missoni showcased their ‘Glitter Glam’ themed collection with free, youthful spirit enhanced with vivid colours and bold lines inspired by graphism to modern art and hippie-folk movements…
McQ Alexander McQueen did a 90s intepretation of the 70s in its Spring/Summer collection with pop culture’s infamous icon – David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Lydia Lunch as muses for these range….
Valentino, the Italian fashion mammoth was inspired by the renaissance painting of Hieronymus Bosch and British designer Zandra Rhodes’s lively prints. Their designs were all evoking historic Venetian textiles and quirky prints on ethereal soft dresses, shirts, and smart trenches for modern daywear with accents of appliques and movement of fabrics for a sense of sophistication and grace….
iKarrtini married traditional and contemporary design while encapsulating our Malaysian culture in her designs, highlighting batik as an art of creating patterns.. the result was definitely breath taking…
With the theme ‘ Break Free’, light patterns as well as colourful dresses for both casual and formal occasions were a prominence in Mita Tam Style Studio Spring/Summer 2017 collection.
Debenhams showcased their Spring /Summer 2017 collection, delighting British fashion fans present… including yours truly.. hahaha…
And the finale was a special Malaysian debut fashion show by Australian luxe-label ae’lkemi -pronounced alchemy- by the award-winning fashion designer , Alvin Fernandez who featured 20 gorgeous, and some pretty daring pieces from his latest Ready-to-Wear and Couture collections from his theme, ‘..turning a raw material into something precious’
