I always find agro-tourism super interesting.. it is a combination of agriculture and tourism, one of the fastest growing segments of the travel industry, and well… it offers a huge variety of entertainment, education, relaxation, outdoor adventures, shopping and dining experiences.

After all, we all want to escape a monotonous life, and crave something out of the ordinary…

A little birdie told me that our Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry is planning the 2017 National-level Farmers, Livestock Breeders and Fishermen’s Day (HPPNK) carnival which will be held from 28th September up until 1st October 2017

Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the carnival, which will be held for the first time at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), Serdang, is expected to attract half a million visitors and is expected to hit sales of between RM20 million to RM30 million.

It is going to be an exciting line up of activities  as HPPNK 2017 will also be featuring three other main events, which will be the Malaysia Food Festival (MFF), Livestock Malaysia 2017 and Malaysia International Agro-Tourism Exhibition (MIATE), as well as the Rhythm of the Farmers concert and many more…

MFF 2017 is a food expo serving up the best food varieties from around the country. Through MFF, visitors to HPPNK will be able to indulge in a variety of Malaysia’s best dishes as well as learn how the food has been produced, made and eventually served up here in Malaysia… (Farm-to-Fork).

This is something educational for our kids to learn, for sure.. learning and getting to know how the food we consume is grown and that milk actually comes from a cow – not just a bottle or a box and the various and painstaking processes behind preparation and all…it will surely make her appreciate her food better and be more thankful for it…

HPPNK will be similar to the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (MAHA) and themed ‘Our Food Our Future’, HPPNK 2017 will feature about 850 exhibition booths – tee hee… I can imagine a whole day or two at the carnival, since the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), Serdang is a huge place, a couple of hours or so will definitely not be enough….

All this will be open to the public from all walks of life, during HPPNK 2017, which will be happening from 28th September to 1st October 2017… so block your dates, mark your calendars and plan to bring the whole family…
