9 MALAYSIAN PERFORMING ART SHOWCASES YOU SHOULD NOT MISS..

If you are a fan of performing arts, like I am, chances are you really would not want to miss out on these upcoming Malaysian performing arts showcase and staging…

4 of these are from the Traditional Arts Showcase 2017 while the other 5 are from the ‘Semarak Bangsawan 2017’ staging, that tells of interesting tales, legends and stories of Malay noblemen and heroes back in the palaces of olden days…

National Department For Culture And Arts /Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Negara, JKKN which is one of the agencies under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia is working hand in hand with MaTiC to showcase the Traditional Arts Showcase 2017 at the Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman at MaTiC  whereas the ‘Semarak Bangsawan 2017’ staging will be held at the Kuala Lumpur City Council Auditorium, along Jalan Raja Laut..

Let me share with you the first 5 which are the ‘Semarak Bangsawan 2017’ staging…

  1. Bangsawan Cincin Naga Api – by the Persatuan Seni Ceritera Negeri Selangor , which is basically an adaption from the The Lord of the Rings movie, but rewritten by Roydy Rokidy with Khusiary Mahyuddin. This will be staged on the 12, 13 and 14 of May 2017, and will star local artistes such as Dato’ Jalaluddin Hassan, Ain Sufia, Filzah Azmi from Awok , Azerai Azmi, Afi AF and more….
  2. Bangsawan Satria Menara Putih – by Perkumpulan Seni Singapura, which is written by Samsudin Said and directed by Ihsan Ali which will be staged on the 21, 22 and 23 of July 2017
  3. Bangsawan Dewa Kencana –by Pertubuhan Teater Hidayah, which is directed by Kamarul AR. This will be staged on the 15, 16 and 17 September 2017. This production will pair local theatre actors with local television drama actors such as Mubarak Majid, Zack Kool, Lan Zailan, Rosli Rahman Adam, Ruby Wahid, Marup Mustapa, Nazri Ahmad and more…
  4. Bangsawan Zhao Si Anak Yatim – by Opera Sri Bandaraya would also be interesting as it is also adapted from the Chinese drama The Orphan of Zhao and this is directed by Lenny Erwan . This will be staged on the 13, 14 and 15 October 2017
  5. Bangsawan Dendam Laksamana –by the Persatuan Seni Silat Pusaka Sendeng Malaysia which has been written by Siti Jasmina Ibrahim and directed by Pat Ibrahim is also quite star studded with Iqram Dinzly, Nadia Aqilah, Anuar Rusdini and Megat Shahrizal as the main characters…on 10, 11 and 12 November 2017…

These will all be all be staged at the Kuala Lumpur City Council Auditorium at 8.30pm, which you really should not miss since watching it is very affordable also at just RM10, RM25 and RM50 for Premier seats…

Premier ticket holders will get better seats, and snacks will be served after the showcase…

The other 4 are from the Traditional Arts Showcase 2017

  1. Chinese Opera in Cantonese – by The Sound of Tai Hei, entitled Wedding Night- the Gathering and Fairy Tales in Heaven and directed by Jeff Chua Chin. This will be staged on 28 and 29 July 2017 –
  2. Indian Classical Dance Drama – by Persatuan Seni Persembahan Malaysia/ASTANA depicting a dance drama with the title Devdas, directed by Ravi Shanker Rama Murthy. This will be staged on 25 and 26 August 2017
  3. Traditional Theatre – Jikey – by Persatuan Penggerak Warisan Seni Budaya Negeri Kedah/AKRAB Kedah will present Naga Berapi under the direction of Saipol Bahari Mohd Iman and this will be on 27 and 28 October 2017
  4. Collection of Regional Dances – by Persatuan Penggiat Zapin Negeri Johor/PE-ZAPIN, Fakulti Tari, Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan /ASWARA and UPSI . This will be staged on 17 and 18 November 2017

The Traditional Arts Showcase 2017 will be staged at the Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman at MaTiC, Kuala Lumpur at 8.30pm, and is retailing at just RM20 per seat and RM50 for Premier seatings… note that there is a 50 percent discount off the price or students, elderly people and those who are OKU

Premier seats comes with a little souvenir from the organisers as well…
