5 food places in Klang you really should not miss…

Recently, I was blessed enough to be invited to join in the 5th installation of Eat Travel Write, which was a collaboration between Gaya Travel Magazine and Tourism Selangor, and well, the destination was the Royal City of Klang..


So here are 5 places the people from Tourism Selangor feels that we should not miss out on, and yes, once I have tried out their food offerings, I definitely seconded their opinion, and so this is written to share with you, my fellow readers, on 5 places to eat in Klang you really should not miss, so you should know where to head to when you are in Klang next……

Lontong Klang at the Emporium Makan, Klang Royal City Town

One very significant food spot in Klang city would be at the food emporium or “Emporium Makan”, which is located in the middle of the city, opposite of Pasar Jawa and next to Jambatan Kota.

One of the most popular stall is “Lontong Klang” that serves up lontong with tempe, sambal sotong, hard boiled egg, meat patty/bergedil including some other ingredients in a coconut milk gravy…The price is also very affordable which is RM5.00 for normal Lontong  … and it was just so yummy…….I need more…


You can also find some pretty delicious nasi lemak or rice to wednesday/ nasi kerabu sold, and there is also the highly recommended rojak…

Chong Kok Kopitiam, Klang Royal City Town

Chong Kok Kopitiam is pretty interesting as they actually have servers of different races. It is well known for its nasi lemak sambal sotong, Roti Goyang which is basically toast bread and soft boiled eggs that shake like jelly with a choice of normal bread, wholemeal bread, bun, normal egg, kampong chicken egg, and the coffee.

It is said that the coffee beans here are roasted with butter. There are plenty of other food offerings as well from chee cheong fun and so on…

Claypot  Asam Pedas/Nasi Telur Berlada ‘Andak’, Kampung Kuantan

Claypot Asam Pedas Andak/ Nasi Telur Berlada ‘Andak’ at Kg Kuantan  is a not-so-little family run restaurant in front of the family home, covered in zinc roof and getting more shade from the huge trees nearby…

The restaurant serves up some pretty yummy local dishes from Asam Pedas Ikan Pari, Asam Pedas Daging Tetel, Nasi Telur Berlada, Nasi Goreng Telur Berlada Meletup, Hotplate Sizzling Yee Mee, Cucur Ikan Bilis, Roti Kahwin, Roti Canai Telur Goyang, Nasi Goreng Da Di Du, Nasi Goreng Tumbuk…

Personally, I loved the Nasi Goreng Tumbuk and the Asam Pedas Ikan Pari….

Warong Pak Din, Taman Palm Grove

Warung Pak Din in Taman Palm Grove is situated between two bungalows at the intersection of Jalan Ladang and Jalan Pinang. It is a roofed eatery with chairs and tables where you can sit comfortably and enjoy an assortment of sweet and savoury kuih from their signature chicken curry puff, cheese curry puff and banana fritters and just about 50 other varieties of local Malay kuih from pisang goreng, kuih lapis, kuih keria, sago, ketayap, cekodok, lopes, keledek goreng, sukun goreng and pulut panggang. Warong Pak Din also serves up delicious noodles, such as laksa utara, mee hailam, char koay teow, and loads more…..


The ABC Tembikai Palm Grove is served with large scoops of watermelon and can be shared by at least ½ a dozen people and it is just so refreshing on a humid day….

I loved the chicken curry puff and the cheese curry puff as well as the char koay teow… and their biji melaka/onde onde was just yummy too…

Pak Din’s stall is open throughout the week from 11am to 6pm except on Friday.

Sate Famili/ Sate Sidek, Meru

Sate Famili is located at the corner lot of a shoplot… and comes with a straightforward menu where you can choose from chicken (satay ayam), beef (satay daging), mutton (satay kambing), ‘intestines/ stomach’ (satay perut) and as well as ‘lontong’ rice cake.

Sate Famili is famous for their satays made with a little of fatty layer/lemak that is just about enough for the juicy texture and perfectly combined with the soft and tender meat grilled meat, that will make anyone’s mouth water.. The restaurant also serves up yummy packet nasi lemak, otak otak and tahu sumbat….
