Of Birthday Wishes and Le Goûter at Brasserie 25, Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur..

So yours truly has now celebrated her 21st birthday twice. And this year’s birthday would just have to be the best ever yet…You see, after always coming in 2nd or last in the importance list in my family and never quite having anyone do anything interesting or exciting for my day since it happens to also be my niece’s birthday and just a couple days after my step daughter’s birthday, I was determined to make it a special one for myself and I had a little wish list created..after all my motto is to live life the best I can..

It was on my wish list to get myself a mermaid hair makeover, but something not too crazy or obvious, and yes I had a balayage ombre peekaboo hair done in turquoise and purple by one of my trusted and favorite hair salon, Daisuke Salon de Coiffure…

The second wish was a wish to get some flowers, a bouquet, if possible, since my husband was not one of those romantic husbands who will buy me flowers.. he would rather get me practical items such a bag or a watch then flowers…and I had a surprise when Floresta Floral and Gifts decided to send me a bouquet that took my breath away when I was in the midst of indulging my tastebuds and stomach at the Brasserie 25’s le goûter…

Then it was my wish list next to have a little getaway, and I was fortunate to be able to get to stay over at the very lovely and new boutique hotel- The Stripes KL, an Autograph Hotel by YTL group.. which fulfilled my three wishes for my birthday….

Anyway, this cosy and gorgeous hotel is tucked away in Dang Wangi /Chow Kit area, somewhere behind the SME bank and Sheraton Imperial and I think the original building was formerly a row of about 10 heritage shop houses, in which the style been retained in the renovation and creation of what is now Hotel Stripes KL…

This French-style restaurant provides a dramatic yet relaxed vibe. Brasserie 25 exudes a rustic charm with its red brick arcades, mid-century copper sputnik chandeliers and dark wood floors, this French-style restaurant located to right of the main entrance has kind of a dramatic yet relaxed vibe with streams of daylight brightening the stylish room which is a perfect blend of traditional and modern…

It is said that Brasserie 25 draws inspiration from STRIPES’ sister hotel, MUSE ST Tropez and even offers le goûter, afternoon tea with a French twist.

Yes, Brasserie 25 offers a French/Malaysian afternoon tea, with a bit of a twist on some local tea time snacks all freshly prepared daily and served from trays, the French way..

I was brought to my seat before a waiter assigned to me, Jamshed attended to me rattling of the choices of drinks I was to choose from.. my mini me and I agreed to go with just the tea…

Our le goûter, afternoon tea started with a selection of hot savouries – a sardine puff, risotto balls, and a quiche served inside an attractive hammered copper box which is reminiscent of steampunk which Jamshed brought to our table and set down.. then it was followed by a little plate of chicken ham and cheese toast…

Then followed by super tempting and attractive French Pastries such as the berries tart, raspberry macaroon, chocolate mousse cake, madeleine, lemon meringue curt, fruit jelly, paladio (white chocolate with truffle) , biscuity, long de chat, passion fruit puff and blue berry & almond tart served on silver trays by attentive wait staff who will take the time to explain what it is to you…

It sure was a fantastic experience and I loved the selections.. with the quiche, the chocolate mousse cake, the berries tart and passion fruit puff being my top favorites…

If you have not had a chance to do so, you really should try the Le Goûter there, and enjoy your beautiful ambience and scrumptious savouries and pastries there at Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur…

The Le Goûter is served daily from 3pm – 6pm, and costs RM60 nett per person, which I feel is quite reasonable for the food and ambience… huhu
