One of my bucket list and dream was achieved when I had a little staycation over at the beautiful and majestic hotel called ‘The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur’ recently.
Ever since The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur opened its doors in December 2012, I had the chance to visit the hotel on a few occasions and even dined there.. but I did not get to stay there, until recently.. and it was truly a wondrous experience getting to somewhat step back into time as well as enjoy all the modern luxury and comforts…
The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur consists of both the Tower Wing and the meticulously restored iconic Hotel Majestic building, called the Majestic Wing…
The original hotel which was built in 1932, an icon of Malaya’s boom years leading to the World War II, the hotel was the place for glamorous social events, government receptions and the residence for prominent international visitors.
The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur is also similarly positioned to share the grandeur, heritage and success of its predecessor as a YTL Autograph Collection Hotel. Everyone around knows of this grand hotel is considered as the Grand Dame of heritage hotels here in South East Asia, having served countless dignitaries, politicians and super stars, and which is listed in the ‘Leading Hotels of the World’ …
Upon arrival at the hotel, we were welcomed by the very efficient colonial uniformed doorman who held open the door for us.. Checking in was a breeze as the reception staff was just professional, friendly and efficient.
Located just minutes away from KL Sentral, and walking distance to the National Museum, as well as the old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, the aptly named Majestic Hotel features 300 luxurious rooms and suites.
The Majestic Wing houses the Suites with Butler Service, The Colonial Café, The Bar and The Tea Lounge while a new 15-storey Tower Wing houses the Deluxe Rooms and Suites, Contango Restaurant, 13 meeting rooms, a pillar less ballroom seating 1,200 people, a gymnasium and a swimming pool.
I was blessed to have been given a chance to stay in one of the Junior Suites overlooking the swimming pool and a picturesque view of some part of Kuala Lumpur with the Royal Museum/ Old National Palace in the distance..
My suite was most spacious and simply breathtakingly beautiful and plush.. the design is a combination of contemporary and classic with every comfort taken into mind and yes, the magnificent four poster bed right in the middle with generous pillows, that makes you feel you are on cloud nine..
..and the bathroom was ok, a little surprising with glass sliding doors and a curtain outside, instead of inside, so it was kinda kinky… hehehe.. Other then that, you can find two wash basins/ vanities, the toilet and the rain shower in glass cubicles and large free standing bathtub facing a wall-mounted television which my mini me enjoyed when I had to go out for a bit… and yes, generous amenities and bath salts to indulge in…
There are two swimming pools at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the swimming pool on the 4th floor of the Tower Wing, dedicated to the guests from the Tower Wing, and the swimming pool just outside the Majestic Spa which is dedicated to the guests from the Majestic Wing as well as the Majestic Spa’s guests..
There is also a very generous and fully equipped gym guests can make use of any time of the day or night..and yes, the threadmills face the pool, if you need a view, you can open the curtains or keep them shut for privacy..
While you are there at the Majestic Hotel, you might really consider visiting The Majestic Spa and The Smoke House – very much a gentleman’s club for some much needed pampering…
The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur has provided free shuttle services for their guests, called the Majestic Line, there are three lines guests can make full use of, which are the:-
1. Majestic Sentral Line: every half hour from 5.35 am to 11.35 pm
Luxury coach service between the Hotel and Sentral Station with its express rail link to Kuala Lumpur International Airport within 28 minutes
2. Majestic Starhill Line: every hour from 9.30 am to 7.30 pm
Luxury coach service between the Hotel and Starhill Gallery, the stylish mall in the Bukit Bintang shopping district of the city
3. Mid Valley Line: every hour from 8.30 am to 7.30 pm
Luxury coach service between the Hotel and The Gardens Mall and Bangsar LRT Station
So it was definitely convenient to just head out to meet a friend or go for some retail therapy…
The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur has two main restaurants, which is Contango, a luxuriously designed contemporary restaurant featuring an open kitchen interactive dining concept with a seating capacity for 250 people located at the ground floor of the Tower Wing ….
…and The Colonial Cafe that makes you feel like you have stepped back into time, with the atmosphere of the halcyon days of the planters of Malaya with their authentic classical cuisine from the colonial era, which is located on the 2nd floor or at the Majestic Wing..
The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur is also famed for their English afternoon teas with a Malaysian twist, which is held either at the Orchid Conservatory or the Tea Lounge… I will share my experience of dining at these restaurants in my next post…as well as my experience at the Majestic Spa..
Overall, I had an amazing stay with nothing to complain as everything was just perfect, and the service was professional, friendly and polite..
