There are plenty of natural and wonderful scenery there as well as plenty of attractions and activities for everyone, whether you love fishing, jungle trekking, camping, birdwatching, mountaineering or just want to getaway from the rat race, around what is the largest man-made lake in South East Asia…
And they have an annual Festival at Pengkalan Gawi called the Festival Kenyir, and the news is it will be held next weekend for four days from 14th Sept!!!
Personally I have heard much said about this event and would dearly love to attend this but well, I already have a personal commitment in Penang and cannot attend…
I am always excited when it comes to these events but sadly when the date clashes with something else, you have to sacrifice it..
However, do please attend for me if you can, and at least I can have a happy feeling that someone out there, or some people are there and enjoying what I had to miss..
Do check out the tentative programme for Festival Kenyir 2017 as there are just so many thrilling activities that have been lined up for the four days promising fun and adventure for all..
Take a hot air balloon ride or helicopter ride to enjoy the magnificent bird eye view of the impressive lake with its 340 islands, rainforests, waterfalls, rapids, rivers, caves, hills and enjoy the amazing flora and fauna..
Do also check out the river cruise, island hopping and water sports
There will also be the Serama Chicken contest, Selfie contest, Family Wefie/Selfie contest, watersports contest as well as other contest with many prizes to be won…
For those who enjoy watching performances, do keep an eye out for the silat kura-kura, dikir barat, street performances, SUKTRA cultural performance, islamic arts night with inTeam, and konsert d’tasik (with local popular singers Aris Ariwatan, Aiman Tino, Ameng, Wani Hasrita, Tajul)
There will also be an autofest for those obsessed about cars, as well as a photofest for photographers held as well..
And yes, what would a festival be without food… So there will be plenty of food trucks there to quench your thirst and hunger pangs as well as indulge in when the mood kicks in…
So as you can see, whether you are young and adventurous or older and prefer a relaxing time, or even kiddies, there is definitely something for everyone at Festival Kenyir 2017
