When I heard that the KL Tower International Jump Malaysia 2017 was happening, I knew I had to get up there..
I won’t say I am not afraid of heights, but neither am I terrified of it but then where else can you take amazing pictures of base jumpers in various state of action but from the edge of the KL Tower sky deck…which is the ledge…
The KL Tower International Jump Malaysia (KLTIJM) 2017 is I think one of the rare opportunities for members of the public to challenge their fears of heights or just enjoy the amazing bird’s eye view of Kuala Lumpur while feeling the wind in your hair etc,… and I for one do so look forward to it..
The KL Tower International Jump Malaysia 2017 is an annual event, which began from Friday 29th September until Monday 2nd October, where selected base jumpers from all over the world converge to show off their skills as well as indulge in the adrenalin rush as they jump off the sky deck.
The adrenaline pumping actions happened from 8am until 6pm (for day jumps) and 8pm until 10pm (night jump).
There was a total of 120 local and international jumpers from countries such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Denmark, Iran, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, South Africa, United States and United Kingdom with the youngest base jumper aged 23 to the eldest base jumper who is 61!!
BASE jump is named thus because it stands for the acronym for Building, Antenna, Span and Earth, representing objects which are used as the BASE jump landing area..
As an annual event, the aim was to offer base jump enthusiasts, the opportunity to jump off KL Tower while at the same time this extreme sport does some what put Malaysia on international tourism maps as a destination for sport tourism.
The event is also in line with KL Tower aspiration as a must visit destination for culture, adventure and nature activities…
Among other activities lined-up includes bag jump and flying fox. There are also food trucks apart from KLTIJM 2017 merchandise on sale.
Guests like you and me can choose to take up the packaged offered, “Sitting on the Ledge” where naturally after you decide to do it, you will be properly harnessed up for safety purposes before being led to the ledge where you can get up close and watch the jumpers do their amazing dare devil stunts guaranteed to take your breath away…
I loved the sensation of enjoying the beautiful scenic view of Kuala Lumpur from the top, while feeling the wind in my hair and splatters of raindrops when it drizzles..lol.. it is somewhat to exhilarating challenging your comfort zone at times.. and I am so loving it.. I even happen to meet a new friend while on the ledge who came from Singapore. She purposely took an emergency leave from work and flew down to KL to see this in person…
Anyway, the opportunity for sitting on the ledge at KL Tower is presently over, so you have to wait for next base jump activity next year, just visit the sky deck and enjoy taking pictures in the glass boxes or keep your eyes and ears peeled to what interesting new activities KL Tower might have from time to time at www.menarakl.com.my or www.facebook.com/officialmenarakl

I still haven’t got the chance to watch live base jumping yet. It would be amazing to be able to photograph them, sitting on the ledge like that. I hope I don’t forget myself. LOL
