Calling all food lovers… Media Prima Labs is now introducing the ‘JJCM Makan Awards’ for the first time for the popular food discovery app, JJCM. Yours truly was over at the Baan Kanom Jeen Thai restaurant at the Empire Damansara, where the announcement was made amidst members of the media indulging in some yummy authentic Thai dishes…
The Media Prima Labs team decided to come up with the award to give Malaysian foodies a chance to vote for their favourite eateries in the Klang Valley area.
The awards will be divided into 7 categories that will encompass 8 of Malaysian firm favorite dishes, and will be judged by the dish’s popularity and the best votes with 50 percent of the marks coming from the Malaysian general public and 50 percent of the marks coming from professional judges who are popular local culinary experts, which will be announced soon…

The 7 categories selected will be.. the most Popular Nasi Lemak, the most Popular Char Kueh Teow (the wet local Malay type), the most Popular Satay, the most Popular Cendol and Rojak, the most Popular Grilled Fish and the most Popular Roadside Burger. Voting will begin 1st November and end on 24th November 2017 via the www.jalanjalancarimakan.com.my website
“Since Malaysians and food cannot be separated, Media Prima Digital decided to hold the JJCM Makan Awards where they wanted to give foodies and local gastronomic aficionados a chance to help decide their favorite food destinations… as well as help appreciate and award these food operators,” the applications product manager Li Ee Kee said..
Winners for each of the 7 categories stand to bring home an exclusive JJCM Makan Awards and cash prizes.
Jalan Jalan Cari Makan has already been around on air for more than 16 years and is now hosted by Nazrudin Habibur Rahman, or more fondly known as Abang Naz….
Other previous hosts were none other then Maria Tunku Sabri, Iqram Dinzly, Serina Redzuwan, Shiha Zikir, Iqbal Mazlan and Qi Razali.
The JJCM App was launched somewhere end of 2015, and as of now has recorded more than 250,000 downloads. Each of the registered JJCM App’s users can update their comments and suggestions about any restaurant or cafes they have been to.. It is basically an app for food lovers to share with other food lovers… and it also enables JJCM App users to check out the list of restaurants, cafes or eateries that is near to their GPS position…
The JJCM App is not limited to restaurants and places that has only been featured on television, and the editorial team of JJCM would also visit places suggested by the app’s users all to look for the best unique food around the country.
You really should download the JJCM App if you have not yet done so… as it is free for download in both the Apple Store as well as in Play Store…
