Traveling with the CANON EOS M5

Doesn’t it frustrate you when you are traveling and you cannot get any nice photos on your camera and all… For me, it does, because I love collecting memories of where I go, who I was with and what I did.. and there is nothing better then nice photos that reminds you of those fleeting happy moments…

So yours truly was given the opportunity to hold and to play around as well as take photos of the Colours of Lives Travelogue Malaysia Northern Johor trip with the Canon EOS M5…

It’s a 24MP mirrorless camera that comes with a Dual Pixel APS-C sensor for a depth-aware focus across most of the frame. You can also find a built-in electronic viewfinder, a good number of external controls (including twin control dials) and a well implemented touchscreen, which I only familiarized myself on the 2nd  day… lol

The Key Specifications of the Canon EOS M5…

-24MP Dual Pixel APS-C CMOS Sensor

-2.36M-dot OLED electronic viewfinder

-1.62M-dot tilting rear touchscreen

-Electronic video stabilization combines with in-lens IS to give 5-axis IS

-7 fps continuous shooting (9 fps with focus and exposure locked)

-Wi-Fi with always-connected Bluetooth

The Canon EOS M5 comes with four dials: two which you can find on the top part of the camera, a dedicated exposure compensation dial and a fourth dial encircling the four-way controller on the back of the camera for a very much more hands-on control of a camera shooting experience.

I fell in love with the touchscreen-plus-Dual-Pixel-AF combination is really very helpful for stills shooting – you can drag the focus point around the screen and well, also use it to select the available faces for shooting.

Canon’s EOS M5 is said to be Canon’s highest-end mirrorless camera to date and by far its most satisfying.

And naturally as a blogger/writer or influencer on the go, you will definitely have to love the built-in Bluetooth, which complements the WiFi, allowing you to wake the camera from sleep and connect with your smartphone without touching the body. This also allows me to be able to use the Canon smartphone app and transfer photos etc directly into my phone…

I am basically an amateur photographer so I used the Canon EOS M5 for taking my photos.. but every photo taken with the Canon EOS M5 is just so satisfying and I love how my photos turn out… but gulp.. the camera is definitely slightly a bit too pricey for my budget at RM4,699.00

I hope to continue using this camera for future trips and learn more about this fascinating and interesting camera for sure…
