Once upon a time, back in 1998, Amcorp Mall decided to begin an indoor antiques market after getting inspired by one of the most iconic antiques market in the world, none other then the famed Portobello Road Market in UK…

It all began with a handful of pioneering  antique enthusiasts, who proudly set up tables and displayed their prized collections at the lower ground level of the mall… it was small and cosy… 

…but now 19 years later, the number of traders has grown to almost about 300 with a mindblowing spread covering 4 floors of the mall every weekend…

It is of course now an established flea market destination in its own right and enables its many traders to supplement their income as well as serve as a favorite gathering place for antique and collectibles…

So yours truly and some celebrity/ influencer friends were there with some Tourism Malaysia friends and it amazing to see the vast spread of pre loved items and some new collectors items hard to get elsewhere from Hot Wheels cars, lego figurines, figurines, cards, antiques, pre loved clothes, pre loved toys, pre loved books etc…

What I like is that you can take your own sweet time to browse through the many many stores there are there in comfort, since you are in air conditioned comfort, and do not have to worry about getting drenched in a rain storm or getting over heated on a humid day… and well, if you are feeling peckish or hungry, there are plenty of food and beverage outlets within the mall with a generous combination of traditional and contemporary cuisine featuring Malay, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Korean and fusion dishes…

Anyway, just or those who are interested , and back by popular demand, Amcorp Mall is organising a second ‘Collectors Pick’ on 23rd and 24th December 2017 where visitors can feast their senses with all manner of oldies, oddities and rarities encompassing antiques, curios, old notes, stamps, collectible toys, books, vinyl records and so on….

The first one was launched on the 26th and 27th August 2017 in conjunction with Malaysia;s 60th year of Independence…. and well, it is a Grand Extravaganza not to be missed…
