So when a friend of mine asked me if I want to visit the luxurious Genting Dream, the latest luxury Asian Cruise brand of Genting Cruises Line, I jumped at the chance though I was disappointed it was just a few hours visit, and not quite a cruise I was hoping or envisioning…
However it was to celebrate the inaugural arrival of the beautiful and majestic ship at the Boustead Cruise Centre in Port Klang along with what was like more than 400 other guests including government dignitaries, media, business and trade partners..
We were ushered to the 999-seater Zodiac Theatre of the ship once we boarded the ship and treated to Dream Cruises’ dance showcases as well as the exclusive preview of Dream Cruises’ thrilling signature production show “Voyage of a Lover’s Dream”, telling the tale of a surreal relationship between a mermaid and an astronaut.. a tale of love, hope and overcoming seemingly impossible boundaries… The show was of course super mesmerizing since it featured some of the very best acrobatic acts from both Asia and the west with gorgeous costumes and set…
After the speeches and exchanging of mementoes, the guests were then broken up to a few groups and taken on a special ship tour..
The 19-deck cruise ship is said to be able to accommodate some 3,400 guests and who will of course be attended by about 2,000 crew members, forming the leading crew-to-guest ration in Asia-based cruising..
We were taken to the Dream Palace, which is a discrete ‘ship within a ship’ experience for those who are pretty well off… It is an exclusive enclave where you can get pampered in some of the most spacious suites in Asia, with decadent amenities and dedicated 24-hours western style Dream butler services, access to the exclusive Genting Club area for meals and gaming, private pool facilities, not to mention the comfortable suite room or better still, if you can afford it, that super luxurious Garden Penthouse…
Now if only I can strike the Lotto Jackpot or suddenly find myself some missing rich relative…huhuhu
Many of us complain that we tend to get claustropobic in one of the ship cabins because it is small and cramped… but this is hardly the case here on Genting Dream.. Over 70% of the staterooms feature private balconies and there are over 100 connecting rooms catering to extended families and groups…
Besides that all the beds on Genting Dream are ‘Dream Beds’ that promises to wrap each guest in comfort and luxury… along with the unique combination of high quality mattresses, silky smooth sheets, bouncy duvets and a mountain of pillows..
If you are a party animal, you will enjoy the fact that there is actually a Zouk club on board.. and it is divided into three areas: an indoor dance club; a sports bar with billiards and a four-lane glow-in-the-dark bowling alley; and an outdoor day and night party deck… what else can you ask for… hahaha
The Genting Dream ship also comes with an impressive large spa area called Crystal Life.. Home to both contemporary as well as traditional treatments from both Asia and the reat of the world, this is your destination for trily rejuvenating experiences… Do check out the largest Asian reflexology spa at sea and there are just so many other massage treatments and salons. There is also a pretty cool state-of-the-art fitness centre as well as a modern wellness eatery there…
…move along the corridor there and you can find yourself in a little viewing room where you can see the Captain and his men hard at work piloting the ship…
And yeah, I swear I have not seen so many restaurants on a ship yet before this because.. believe me or not.. you can find a whooping 35 restaurants and bar concepts to wine or dine in….
Other highlights on this amazing ship includes 6 waterslides, a rope and rock climbing wall, a mini-golf course as well as state of the art karaoke facilities…
And that is why it aptly comes with the tagline “Where Dreams Set Sail”….
Now when is my chance of ever cruising on this amazing ship….huhuhu… where is that genie in the lamp when I need him..

How lucky of you to be able to board the ship albeit for a few hours. I am still waiting for the opportunity to set foot in one.
