The Haven Resorts, Ipoh Perak

Tambun in Ipoh is gorgeously surrounded with natural limestone hills millions of years old, and of course lush and beautiful vegetation and rainforest making it an ideal getaway from the city… and it helps when it is not that far to go, since it is just a couple of hours drive on the road along the North South Highway…

The Haven Resorts is an all suites hotel, which promises and of course delivers luxurious comfort while getting to experience all those natural landscape that has been around for over millions of years…

Just about 15 minutes from Ipoh city centre, this all suites hotel features 150 luxurious suites, from one-bedroom suites suitable for couples, up to three-bedroom suites which can comfortably accommodate up to six people…

When my group of influenzas arrived and was waiting for me to check in, we were all served a nice refreshing welcome drink which has been made using lemongrass, ginger, cinnamon, lime and chamomile flowers. Checking in was a breeze and we were then given our room key cards and instructions on how to get there as well as instructions on how to get to our breakfast venue…

There were 6 of us as two other members left to go back to KL because of work… so we were all safely ensconced in a 3 Bedroom Lakeview Suite that came with a master bedroom with a King Bed, a 2nd bedroom with a Queen Bed and a smaller room with a Single bed…

The suite was very spacious with modern, luxurious yet cosy furnishings.. and the sofa set in the living room was just so plush one of our team members decided to make it his ‘nest’ and within minutes he was fast asleep there…

There is a kitchenette which can be used for cooking but only if you are a long-stay guest, a dining room with a huge dining table, 3 bathrooms/toilets, utility room for garbage and drying clothes and a large balcony that looked out on what is among the most amazing views I have ever seen…

The view from the balcony, or the first and second bedroom looks out to Rockhaven, the majestic 280-million year old limestone outcrop as well as the lake and lush green virgin forest surrounding and covering the limestone hills.

I took the smallest room with the single bed since I wanted my own privacy and it was quiet, with an air conditioner unit and a study table but cosy enough and I had the choice of using the bathroom/toilet just outside my room or another smaller toilet in a dressing room..

There is also a reasonably fast and good complimentary WiFi at most areas around the hotel.

Some of my team mates initially wanted to go back to the Lost World of Tambun to play in the waterpark but when they saw the Haven Resorts’ 60-metre seahorse-shaped swimming pool, they changed their mind.. The 5-level infinity swimming pool, comes with a jacuzzi, leisure pool, lap pool, children’s pool and wading pool. It lies alongside the vast lake, enhancing its natural beauty. There is also a water slide for kiddies…

So armed with some floats we rented from Floatsewa / Floattime KL, we had a splashing great time there taking photos at the pool with amazing background as well as swimming and splashing at each other…

The hotel amenities also includes a fully-equipped gym, jogging tracks, picnic grounds, badminton and squash courts, table tennis room, ballroom and conference facilities, an amphitheatre across the lake and shuttle bus services all year round.

If you are an early riser, you really need to head to the jogging tracks and catch the sunrise behind Rockhaven… So I was out early with another of my team mates and we took an early morning stroll around the jogging tracks, taking photos, admiring the breathtaking scenery as well as taking in the clean, fresh and crisp air…

See the amazing pictures we got….

Two other team mates then joined us, and we then headed to the Cuisines Restaurant, located at the Clubhouse where we tucked into a generous range of local delights such as Ipoh Hor Fan, congee, fried noodles, nasi lemak as well as cereal, fresh fruits, eggs -cooked any style you prefer , desserts and more.

The award-winning restaurant actually serves up some pretty yummy lunch and dinner, with a generous menu offering Asian, Western and Mediterranean cuisine with focus on healthy, wholesome food at affordable prices.

When we finished out breakfast, it was back to more water play in the sea-horse shaped pool…with the floats.. before we sadly had to pack and continue our trip….

  1. Oh my. This place is indeed awesome. I was liasing with them when I was working as an employee communications executive, to make them as a prize for employee referral program. Haven’t stayed there tho. Haha.
