MAPS or Movie Animation Park Studios in Ipoh Perak, was the last stop for D’Influenzas team… We were both excited since it was out first time there and well.. it was indeed a place to ‘Live Your Dreams’..

The main gateway was definitely very attractive and colourful… We had our bags scanned for food and beverages which are not allowed in, and then entered the park as excitable as little kids…  It was a short distance to walk, since we had to cross a bridge over the river.. but we soon came to the colourful street with many shops and interesting looking buildings.

Since we were there at around lunch time and feeling somewhat peckish, our first stop was at Tok Aba’s Kokotiam.. the first in the world of its kind, offering hot chocolate or iced chocolate among many other delicious treats from cakes, cookies and sandwiches – I had an iced chocolate which came with whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles and flower marshmallows, and a slice of cake.. pretty yummy.. My other team members had the giant chocolate cookie which also looked damn tempting and sinful…

The Tok Aba’s Kokotiam is after all part of the Home of BoboiBoy  which consist of the BoBoiBoy Hero Academy, our first stop, after refreshing ourselves at Tok Aba’s Kokotiam, a walk through interactive experience where little fans get to discover the true superhero within themselves.  I definitely was impressed as to how MAPS manage to get a real look-a-like Captain Papa Zola who helped train everyone on how to unearth their hidden talents and help save BoBoiBoy…

Ok, to be honest, it was somewhat cheesy and silly for us adults but we got into the mood since we decided to check this place out and when you do that, it can be kind of silly but fun… we sure had a good laugh since it was recorded and we got to see our own silly antics at the end…

The next stop was at the BoboiBoy 4D Adventure theater which brought us along on a ride in a BoboiBoy movie. It was about 12 mins long and it was kinda fun with the effects with bumpy rides, water squirting and sudden air blown to your neck and so on….

We then took a break and headed to the three-storey Starship Restaurant, the biggest restaurant at the theme park.. I loved it since it really looked like a thermal air ship cross space ship and it can accommodate up to 500 diners.. This restaurant serves up some pretty delicious at the most surprisingly affordable prices…

One of the main attractions here is the Stunt Legends. South-East Asia’s first permanent car and bike live stunt show and it was definitely impressive… It wasn’t my first time watching it since I saw a similar one at Walt Disney Studios years back in Anaheim, the one next door to the Disneyland Anaheim..

The stunt show showcased a thrilling cars and motorcycles Live drift show and it sure was nail biting…

D’ Influenzas team managed to take photos with the cast and stuntmen as well as had the chance to get into the cars to enjoy an unforgettable ride… I truly enjoyed it despite my heart beating superfast in my chest way before the ride….

Then we headed to the Lakeside Zone, where we quickly headed for the Space X-Plorers ride and the Asteroid Attack.  I once almost swore I would not get on this as it was just that bloody scary.. but with my team mates coaxing and encouragement…  I got on it… and yes, I survived it.. though there were moments I thought my head would burst with all the blood rushing there when I was dangling upside down in the ride… But if you ask me, yes, I will go again… am now learning to push my own limits and loving the adrenaline rush of pushing our own limits… so I guess I am turning into an adrenaline junkie…

The bumper car section was also fun though where we took the opportunity to bang into each other…

Our next stop was at the Smurf’s Theatre which is great for little kids… Inside, the Theatre, it is kinda fun taking pictures there but the entertainment is of course perfect for those little kiddies…  after the show you can meet and take picture with a couple of the Smurfs..

The Wormhole Technologies was kinda mysterious and I half thought I would end up somewhere in space.. or maybe I did but it was to a room where there were 3D art there for us to take some pictures…
Then our team mates went bad ass and headed to the Space Face shop where we all got some air brushed or mendhi tattoos, as well as face painting done… we figured we should just go all out and have fun right…
When most of us had gotten our temporary inks, we headed to the world’s first La Cremeria Café to indulge our tastebuds in some super tempting sundaes…
The last stop we went to was the  “Fantasy Forest” zone which was  jungle themed and since it was already raining, we entered the Cave of Wonders which reminded me of a mash up of Angkor Wat, the Pyramids of Egypt and maybe some Inca Pyramid… It sure had a few pretty cool artifacts around…

…and I cannot decide if the black creature on the wall in the upside down pyramid was a cat or a dragon… because it really reminded me of Toothless the dragon in How to Train your Dragon…
What made people unhappy is because of the MAPS is still charging full entrance fees  and that the main area, which is the Dream Zone is yet to be opened. However, do check out the packages they have and you might find something that suits your budget…
However, before Dream Zone is opened, I would say that MAPS is perfect for families with kids… youths and thrill seekers should wait until Dream Zone is open then you will have plenty of fun…
I did however have a good time and I sure like hell enjoyed the food I tried at MAPS restaurants and cafes….
The Dream Zone is where MAPS collaborated with the people from Dreamworks and it is here that you can immerse yourself entirely into the worlds of your favorite animated films and series, both old and new. I am also waiting with bated breath for the Dream Zones opening so I can join Megamind, The Croods, Casper and all on adventures… so far it has been said that the date for the opening will be announced earlier next year January 2018 once the team from Dreamworks visit the park… So I know I am waiting to visit the Dream Zone next year too…

  1. Bestnya! Suka kalau melawat tempat begini. Sekarang ni pun dah mula banyak restoren berkonsepkan watak animasi. Budak-budak pasti enjoy datang sini. Sila sediakan wang secukupnya bila bawa anak-anak. Hehe
