MUAR HISTORIA RABBIT HOME RESTAURANT, MUAR, JOHOR

When I was in Muar, a couple of months ago, there was this very interesting place called the Muar Historia/ Rabbit Home Restaurant… At first glance, it was a restaurant, and then it was also a gallery and museum and I was a little confused… but well.. thrilled to be checking it out all the same since I do actually love my history….

Muar Historia Rabbit Home is a very interesting place to visit when you are in Muar, as it is a kind of historical and referral site for visitors and pride of the Muar citizens, a place where you can check out  the Muar world heritage cultural heritage and tangible cultural property, based upon its historical sites and buildings along the heritage Sungai Muar, from Parameswara of Palembang to Temasik, 1389-1398, from Sang Nila Utama-Parameswara to Teluk Dalam, Muar, Biawak Busuk, to Sungai Muar, to Pagoh, from here moved to Bertam River, known today as Sungai Melaka….

The walls of the restaurant have all been painstakingly drawn and painted with murals pertaining the history of Muar district, as well as decorated with photos of the Johor royal family.. which will make you fascinated for sure… and you can find glass shelves and casing containing historical artifacts .

My Travelogue Malaysia team mates as well as influencer friends could not get enough of the Tao Kee Goreng- RM5.00, which is actually freshly deep fried Beancurd roll with fish paste…

Another dish we enjoyed was the Nasi Goreng Kampung DiRaja- RM5.00 which is claimed to be a favorite of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Johor…. .

The Lontong Ketupat- RM5.00 , is also a good dish you should try… consisting of rice cakes which are served with coconut milk-based soup with vegetables, some boiled egg and chilli paste…

Rojak Muar- RM4.00 is pretty much similar to the Penang Rojak buah…and perfect for foodies who love to dip their fruits into the tangy spicy sauces…
Being a fan of otak-otak – RM0.80 each, how can I resist the Muar version which is pretty famous as it slightly differs from what is sold other places… The otak -otak is made from fresh mackerel pieces, chilli, curry, spices, and coconut milk, all blended and steamed then bbqed to perfection…

There is also the Mee Siput, noodles which had been placed in a circle and deep fried.. it can be a little bland but if you dip it into the accompanying chilli sauce, it taste pretty good…

Once we had done eating, we explored the restaurant and checked out the colourful murals and well, took pictures at the entrance with the trishaw….. it was definitely food for the stomach and food for the mind and soul…  and yes, the food is really good… I truly recommend it to all who visits Muar…
