Happy New Year  2018.. Here is hoping 2018 is a year that will bring us more happiness, love, fun, travel, and all things good… heaven knows 2017 had been a real roller coaster and I am picking up the pieces and starting afresh, optimistically for the year…

So, how did you spend New Year’s Day… for me I was over at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur early , since I was fortunate to be among the invited media for their World Dragon and Lion Dance Extravaganza.. and what a mind blowing showcase…

It might not yet be Chinese New Year, which is around the corner, but I have never seen so many ‘lions’ of all shapes, colours and sizes and in one place…

There were the kiddie lions… up to the award winning troupes, all gathered at one place to mark the ‘Visit Pavilion 2018’ as well as Pavilion’s 10th Anniversary celebrations…

‘Visit Pavilion 2018’ will bring new and priceless experiences, personalised indulgences, amazing rewards and fulfilment of dreams for the shoppers and community whole year long…

The logo for ‘Visit Pavilion 2018’ features the Pavilion Crystal Fountain, which had become an iconic tourist landmark in Kuala Lumpur. The fountain showcases the Hibiscus, the national flower of Malaysia, a symbol of opulence, passion and progression… The bowls however, represent Malaysia’s multicultural society living in unity and harmony, ascending to signify the growing aspirations of Malaysians…

The celebration earlier today began with the tossing of coins into the Crystal Fountain for New Year wishes by Guest of Honour, YB Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Adnan bin Tengku Mansor, Minister of Federal Territories; YB Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan, Deputy Minister of Federal Territories; Dato Ammar Abdul Ghapar, Senior Director of Domestic and Events, Tourism Malaysia; Dato Joyce Yap, CEO Retail of Pavilion KL and Mr Philip Ho, CEO of Pavilion REIT…

This was followed by a traditional eye dotting ceremony to awaken 10 lions… symbols of Prosperity, Harmony, Unity, Happiness, Love, Wisdom, Success, Wealth, Good Health and Great Dreams….

Guests, members of the media and all who were present were then treated to a spectacular show featuring 111 lions, and two 27 metres long dragons, performed by over 1000 members from various troupes from all over Malaysia…

It surely was such a breathtaking and colourful event and I had never seen so many colourful lions before….
