Langkawi Sky Cab, Sky Bridge and 3D Art Langkawi

Taking a ride on the Langkawi SkyCab is an amazing experience..

Yours truly and her blogger friends were over there during our trip there in Langkawi with Resorts World Genting/ Resorts World Langkawi and we got to ride the SkyCab all the way up to the top…20180330_133820-01-700x525

By the way did you know that the Langkawi SkyCab is located at the oldest part of South East Asia… the very first to emerge from the sea hundreds of million years ago….

Yeah.. believe it or not…Langkawi has been accorded the Global Geopark status by UNESCO with its geological history dating back 550 million odd years…

The Langkawi SkyCab has 3 stations. The Base Station is located in the Oriental Village at about sea level… From there, you can take a trip to the second or the Middle station which is about 600m above sea level, 1700m in length and which is about 15 mins from the Base Station.

For your information, the Langkawi SkyCab is the ‘Longest Free Span Single Rope Cable Car’ (by the Malaysian book of Records) and it is also of the steepest cable cars in the world….

The journey from the Middle station to the Top station (708m above sea level) is about another 350m…

I suggest skipping the Middle Station. Do not get out of  your cable car and just continue the journey on to the Top Station to avoid wasting unneccesary time…

Be forewarned that the Langkawi Sky Cab might stop operations during bad weather for customer’s safety and comfort – it is not dangerous, but it can make someone pretty nauseous and sick if there are strong winds and you are dangling up there since they will slow it down….

You will however be at awe at the amazing views of Langkawi island once you get to the top station on Gunung Machincang you can enjoy amazing views of some of Langkawi’s islands, the beach and the Perdana Quay, the Seven Wells waterfall as well as lush green rainforest and of course… that magnificent sky bridge from the two viewing platforms there…

From the Top Station to the Sky Bridge…you can choose to take the SkyGlide (something like a combination of a lift and a train – if you go to Seoul’s Namsan tower, you probably get on a similar thing) or if you are fit, or on a tight budget, the cheaper alternative would be to walk 10–15 minutes along a steep and less secure mountain track to the Sky Bridge…

We took the SkyGlide down to the Sky Bridge…

and yes…you really should NOT miss Langkawi’s Sky Bridge!!! This wondrous bridge is not just a beautiful and fascinating curved steel walkway suspended in mid air from a 82m high single pylon, about a dozen cables and hangs about 100m above ground…

The entire bridge, in all its elements had to be lifted to the top of the mountain by helicopter and was later assembled to its current position.

Completed in 2004, this Sky Bridge is the Longest Free Span and Curved Bridge in the World and the experience being on it.. and drinking in all those spectacular views of Langkawi is just something you have to do…

So unless you have an irrational fear of heights, you have to be crazy to miss this amazing experience when you visit Langkawi.

Once we got to the base station of the Langkawi SkyCab, we barely much time left so a few of us headed to the Langkawi Art In Paradise (3D Art Gallery)… where we had to take off our shoes and hand it over to the staff to keep…

Said to be ‘The Biggest 3D Interactive Art Museum in Malaysia’, Langkawi Art in Paradise features over a hundred 3D interactive paintings done up by a group of super talented international artists…

This is an amazing place with 9 themed zones that will take you through a surreal and fantastical journey and even send you to beautiful places in the world you never thought you might visit…

We definitely had a lot of fun there… before we rushed out, collect our shoes and head back to our tour bus…
