So I was over at the Temasek Hotel which was located near the Portuguese Settlement in Ujong Pasir for my recent trip to Melaka, since it was recommended to me by a close friend…
Before I arrived at the hotel.. I was pretty sure it was one of those small boutique hotels at a shoplot kind of place.. but boy was I wrong…
This contemporary boutique hotel is quite huge.. it is pretty big and comes with an open-aired area that serves as the reception and also lounge/restaurant…
Checking it was a breeze with their professional yet friendly reception staff who are willing to assist you or answer any queries you might have.
The 472 room Temasek Hotel is conveniently just about 4 km from Melaka city centre which is not too far..
…and they do serve up some yummy seafood at their Food Bazaar /Deli Cafe..
Yours truly here and friends were actually planning to go to Umbai for seafood but we were a bit tired and decided to just try out the seafood here and we were definitely not disappointed.. cooked with two different sambal sauces, the seafood was fresh and pretty tasty… and we certainly did not regret our choice…
You can actually arrange for shuttle services and meeting room use and all here…
And oh.. the hotel has a pretty impressive ballroom that can fit about 500-600 pax seated… or up to 1000 pax in a theatre style event as well as a few meeting/function rooms which can be rented for usage… that seats 60-80 pax for dinner or 80 -180 pax for theatre style sitting…
We also had a game of billiards as well as darts at their Da Gama Sports Bar.. Non Muslims can of course indulge in alcohol here as well..or watch any sporting event on the TV there…
Our rooms were air-conditioned and pretty cosy and cheerful… There is a flat-screen TV, an electric kettle and minibar for our convenience….
The bathroom came with a glass shower stall with decent hot water shower… and ample amenities including shower gel, shampoo and toothbrushes…
My room came with a queen sized bed as well as fluffy pillows and a very comfortable duvet ensuring me a good night’s rest… which I was truly grateful for..
The window opens just a bit to allow you to take a peek outside and warm the room if it gets too cold and I was lucky to get a view of the wading pool…which is located in the middle of the hotel.. and pretty picturesque when not in used…
A nice complimentary buffet breakfast is served at the Pimenta Coffee House..
The property is located about 1.8 km from Sam Po Kong Temple and 2 km from Porta de Santiago. Christ Church is 2.2 km from Temasek Hotel, while Portuguese Square is 200 metres away. Kuala Lumpur International Airport is 89 km from the property.
Overall, it was a lovely stay in Melaka in this basic but cosy and lovely hotel and I recommend it to families and groups…
