I am sure Langkawi has a lot of interesting places and nice cuisine.. but well, having been to a few, I have to say these are my list of recommended places to eat in Langkawi… for different reasons as well as the similar one which is that they all serve pretty good yummt and heartiest meal…
1. Gemalai Restaurant
The Gemalai Restaurant (formerly known as Seashells Cenang) is located at Laman Padi Museum Langkawi…
What makes this restaurant a must visit place would be its beautiful surroundings of rice paddies, coconut trees and if you are lucky, you can find one of the two resident buffaloes grazing nearby…
The restaurant has an a la carte menu with an interesting selection of Malay & Western Fusion Cuisine served within a traditional Kampung Decorations, music and ambience……
We also love their signature set meals with choices of Chicken, Beef, Lamb or Fish…
Address- Laman Padi, Kampung Lubok Buaya, 07000 Langkawi
2. The Cliff
Located at the end of Cenang Beach near where the “Langkawi” sign is.., the Cliff restaurant overlooks the busy beach and the Andaman Sea, dazzling your senses with the restaurant’s lovely ambience and undeniably gorgeous sunset views…
The Restaurant offers somewhat fine dining and will tempt your taste buds with the various basically authentic Malay recipes and traditional Continental cuisine carefully prepared by their chefs
The Cliff terrace can seat up to 120 pax comfortably… and the dishes are pretty interesting and flavourful…
I really recommend coming here for the cocktails or mocktails and during sunset…
The dishes are not too spicy so it is ideal for those who cannot eat spicy like caucasian tourists too…
Address – Lot 63 & 40, Cenang, Mukim Kedawang, Lebuh Pantai, 07000 Langkawi
3. SkyBistro on SkyBridge
The SkyBistro is located at about 700m above the sky bridge towards the left of the arrival station (opposite direction from the SkyBridge)…
Sometimes, being at different altitudes can make you hungry or thirsty… so this place is perfect for those moments…
We had some SkyBurger and some Nachos, both which were the SkyBistro’s specialities….
Food was pretty good.. but maybe somewhat slightly pricey as food at places of interests usually are but still affordable…
Address- Panorama Langkawi Sdn Bhd
Cable Car Station, Oriental Village,
Burau Bay,
07000 Langkawi
4. Huggin Hippo
Huggin Hippo restaurant is a pretty laid back place with swaying palms and thatched roof….
The interior is pretty retro… and it comes with open-air patio inviting beach goers to come take a breather and enjoy the ambience of this perfect seaside oasis for casual diners to relax and indulge themselves in warm hospitality, great coffee, and excellent food…
Huggin’ Hippo has an all-day breakfast menu, boasting such favourites as eggs cooked sunny-side up, tempting omelets, and Ben (RM23) poached eggs that comes served with imported smoked salmon and rich Hollandaise sauce with a whole meal slice of bread….
I cannot help but fall in love with the Pink Lady (RM48) – grilled lamb rack on mashed potatoes, served with sauteed vegetables and black pepper rosemary sauce or their Northern Sky (RM38) – some pan fried sea bass on a bed of mashed potatoes served with sauteed vegetables and balmoral sauce…
The Beach Boy burger(RM28) is also pretty irresistible beef burger with cheese and sauteed mushrooms served with a helping of french fries and good…
And I especially love their Seafood Pasta (RM35) spaghetti with prawns, squid and mussels in tomato sauce…
For a sweet finish to go with your choice of coffees, you cannot go wrong with the chocolate brownies or their burnt cheese cake…
Coffee lovers should not miss out on the V60…
Address – 27A, Jalan Pantai Chenang, 07000 Langkawi
5. Smiling Buffalo
Stepping into Smiling Buffalo (sister to Huggin Hippo), is like stepping into some beautiful tropical garden with picturesque corners everywhere you turn.. located at the boutique chalet property of Panji Panji ..
I totally fell in love with the Smiling Buffalo even if I did not see any buffaloes around.. (hahaha)
We had breakfast there and the Big Breakfast (RM20), made with beef and chicken sausage, scrambled eggs and toasts was just super yummy…
And how can I resist their super yummy Banana Pancake (RM13), made from scratch….woth caramelised banana, gula melaka and some maple syrup..
The Mango Waffles(RM13) are pretty generous in size and good for sharing, made from fresh mango, coconut ice cream and gula Melaka!!!
Address – Smiling Buffalo, Panji Panji, 965 Kuala Chenang, 07000 Langkawi
.
6. Kuah Seafood Restaurant
We had a pretty good lunch at the Kuah Seafood Restaurant which was situated opposite Rams Shopping Arcade…
The food is pretty sumptuous and the ambience, simple, clean and cosy restaurant- great to run away out from the scorching sun…
All the dishes we had was delicious and very tasty.. from the steamed lemon garlic squid, seafood tomyam seafood, deep fried fish with soya sauce, chicken cashew nuts, and a few other dishes…
