So yours truly was in Kuantan and Taman Negara recently with about 250 of the tourism industry players from Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Pahang which were all involved in the Showcasing Tourism Products (STP) programme held in Pahang at the swanky Zenith Hotel in Kuantan recently.. The event which was a collaboration between the Tourism Productivity Nexus and Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association (MITA)…

The event was held to identify and promote the latest tourism products in the state of Pahang as well as to showcase the uniqueness of each destination which is symbolic to each state…

The programme this time around also stressed on the cultural heritage as well as promote the eco tourism as well as educate visitors on how we can get back to nature, learning to love all that nature has to offer and to protect nature the best we can…

As usual, part of the activities for the programme included Business Matching in between local tourism product owners with the travel agencies, a forum to discuss the latest issues pertaining the tourism industry as well as a face to face consultation on Productivity Gain Measurement (PGM) in electronic form – ePGM as well as the business module from Business Excellence the easy way (ezBE) to various tourism industry players…

In this round of STP, tour agents and players were brought to selected new or unique tourism destinations such as the Elephant Conservation Centre in Kuala Gandah, the Sungai Lembing Tin Mines, the Cherating Fireflies as well as the 130 million year old Taman Negara…

It was definitely an experience to remember getting up close and personal to wildlife and nature….

Tourism Productivity Nexus chairman En Uzaidi Udanis who is also the President of  Malaysian Tourism Council (MTC) says the Showcasing Tourism Products Programme is one of the ways to introduce Tourism Productivity Nexus to the travel industry players. The STP programme is very unique because it involves all level of agencies from the Federal Territories, States and districts where everyone has the same intention of producing more for/from tourism activities…

The STP Programme will be covering Kuching in Sarawak and Tawau & Semporna in Sabah next…

The productivity achievement for the Tourism Sector for 2017 was about RM50,914 which was a 1.1% growth from the overall service sector. This figures clearly shows that we need more commitment to bring Malaysian economy to a faster growth…
