Cruising with SuperStar Gemini…

I have an adventurous spirit…

The lyrics to the chorus of “How far I’ll go” resounds in my spirit…

“See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me…
And no one knows, how far it goes…
If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me…
One day I’ll know, if I go there’s just no telling how far I’ll go”..

I love traveling, its in my blood and I can never get tired of traveling… at least not anytime soon yet…

I am at my happiest when I am traveling, especially when traveling with my best friends… so when someone I know very well from Tourism Selangor asked if I wanted to go for a cruise on the SuperStar Gemini, I was jumping up and down in excitement…

I love to take bus rides, I love flights, and of course road trips.. but nothing can compare with a cruise…

Why?

That would be because a cruise trip offers many benefits, comfort and well, a variety of options in one location… and on this particular trip, some of my best friends and I boarded the SuperStar Gemini which was bigger then the retired SuperStar Libra…

The beautiful ship under the Star Cruises group was bringing us on a 4 days 3 nights trip to Phuket and also Penang.. one of the various options they have which also includes Langkawi, Krabi and Singapore…

When we got off the bus that brought us to the Boustead Cruise Centre, our bags were taken from us, tagged and transported directly to the ship.. and which we later found outside the cabins assigned to us…

We then happily turned over our passports once we cleared immigration for our identification card/room key which also doubled up as our credit card while onboard the ship.. and headed to the ship barely concealing our excitement…

The SuperStar Gemini comes with 13 decks and about 765 rooms that can fit up to 1530 passengers…in 8 different room categories..

My besties had the Oceanview Stateroom with Window while I had the Superior Oceanview Stateroom.. the difference was that my cabin’s window was almost floor to ceiling while the other cabin’s window is smaller but.. where you can sit and enjoy the view…

A cruise might come off and expensive at first but if you sit down and recalculate it, it is actually good value because everything is already paid for in that one package… such as transportation, accommodations, world class entertainments such as Ezker Emparanza Magic Show – The Revolution (Wallaaaa) and also Circus and inclusive (free) meals at Bella Vista, Mariners Restaurant, Oceana Barbecue and Dynasty…. of course, you want something more private or to treat yourself, head over to the more exclusive Taipan, Tea Corner or Blue Lagoon where you can dine with additional cost…

Food is served up to 5 times a day.. breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and supper

A cruise is an all-in-one vacation where you can visit multiple destinations and the best thing is not having to pack and unpack and change hotels or lug around your luggage everywhere… and it was fun checking our surroundings at sea both along the Straits of Malacca and the Andaman Sea and even more exciting when we spotted land… hahaha…which meant it was shore excursion time..

Shore excursions are an option, and if you feel you just want to stay onboard the ship and laze the time away, you can do so…

There is also a choice of “running away” on your own (but of course you have to return at a certain time given) when you disembark the ship at the different destinations or following a guided tour…

We chose to follow a guided tour in Phuket which took us to the Cashew Nut Factory, Wat Chalong, the Big Buddha and dinner….before heading back to the ship…

20181107_145934-01-756x567

At our stop in Penang, we all decided to go do a bit of gastronomy indulgence and shopping, so we headed to the Mee Goreng Sotong Pata and Coconut Shake at the Esplanade food court…

20181107_154818-01-756x567

Then we took a Grab to the old Hin Bus Depot for some photos and coffee…

Then we headed to Penang Road for Cendol, Air Pegaga and a bit of shopping before getting back on the ship…

Going on a cruise means having the options of indulging yourself with great food, nightly entertainment, sunbathing, swimming, jacuzzi, gossiping and just enjoying the entire ship’s facilities while the ship cruise to the different destinations you signed up for…. and that was of course what my besties and I did…

20181115_090821-01-810x608

Sing your heart out at the KTV as well.. with just some purchase of drinks…

20181107_063242-01-810x607

No matter the reason for choosing one, a cruise is a great value, offering relaxation and fun in a family-friendly atmosphere with good food and entertainment all in one unique location… so bring your best friends, your love ones and just enjoy the voyage….

So yes… now that am grounded again… I cannot wait for my next cruise…

Thank you to Tourism Selangor and Star Cruises Asia for having me onboard and the warm hospitality…

The cruise was sponsored but the opinions and thoughts here are all entirely my own…

  1. Is there any handphone line signal on board? And how about Data signal? I heard from friends that Data Signal is not available on the cruise but I’m not sure about handphone signal. Is it weak signal, or totally none at all?
For onboard wifi, I heard we need to puchase it. Do you know what is the price?
