Hotel Review 2019 – The Straits Hotel and Suites, Melaka

My best friends and I headed on a road trip to Melaka and then to Ipoh and Cameron Highlands recently…

During our trip to Melaka, we stayed at The Straits Hotel And Suites, which was right next to the Novotel Hotel Melaka at Melaka Raya…

Upon entering the hotel lobby, we were welcomed by a very spacious and comfortable lounge area with complimentary orange juice and snacks.

There is also the Straits coffee located at ground floor of the hotel, a cosy place for meeting friends or business partners… You can buy drinks and snacks here….

The front office staff were welcoming and courteous in checking us in and we were given our room access cards…. Like most hotel’s access cards, these access cards allow the hotel’s inhouse guests to go to their respective floors as well as to the Skydeck on level 23 (where the infinity swimming pool, sky bar and lounge and sauna are located) and level 3 (restaurant)

The front office adviced us to get an access parking card at Level 1 by giving the parking management RM 30 refundable deposit which we did… it was a bit of a hassle but no worries..

The hotel has a whooping 352 well-equipped rooms and suites with contemporary modern interiors for a comfortable stay for friends (like us), family or well corporate travelers..

You can choose from four types of rooms – Deluxe Twin, Deluxe King, Premier Suite and Straits Suite…

We were given the Heritage Deluxe King Room that came with a generous king-sized bed, working desk, tv, coffee tea making facilities and a mini bar…

Our bath room came with a hand held shower as well as a rain shower….
The only kind of odd thing I guess was that the wall of the bathroom was made of glass so you can actually see through.. and for privacy, there are curtain blinds you can use but it is located outside the bathroom? It was a bit odd and strange when you are staying with friends but well, it might be a novelty when you are on your honeymoon… heheh

The swimming pool is located on their Skydeck on top floor and the view is spectacular… The pool is an infinity pool and it is a covered, so come rain or shine, you still can swim…. swimming pool has a depth of 1.2 meters. The view here was very beautiful here.

They have a Pizzaria restaurant here next to the pool as well with themed buffet dinner on weekends… and pizzas other days…

We had our breakfast is at the Alamaka on Level 3. The restaurant is quite gorgeous and reminds me of some Spanish restaurant because of all the flamenco dancer pictures on the red brick walls…. and gorgeous lightings… the breakfast here is reasonably good…with a reasonable selection…
