Our birthday comes once a year and we’ll with every year, we get older.. So we really ought to try live life the best we can, thus my blog name, live life lah.. Don’t just let life just pass you by…
And since before these couple of years, no one actually bothered celebrating my birthday for me (now I have amazing friends who care enough to help me celebrate it and even surprise me with little treats – I am so grateful to these people), unless I chose to do so..
So am making up for lost time and milking it for what’s its worth… So for an additional personal birthday treat to myself, my closest friends and I decided to head over to the Royale Chulan KL for a little stay..
The Royale Chulan KL hotel is located along Jalan Conlay which is quite a quiet road, a respite from the traffic jams happening just around the corner near Pavilion and Bukit Bintang or KL Convention Centre and KLCC…
However being here also means it just take a mere (more or less) 10 mins to walk to these places too….
The hotel is pretty unique looking somewhat like a Malay Heritage Palace of long ago.. With traditional Malay architecture but the interior is a mix of contemporary and Malay traditional luxuries….
You will be pretty fascinated as I am of the lovely fittings around the hotel lobby and even lifts of which are lovely intricate wood carvings as you can find in the lots of traditional homes and palaces of a bygone era…
Checking in was easy peasy with the front office staff being pretty professional and fast… And we were given directions to our apartment…
Our apartment was on the opposite end of the reception area and on the top floor…
We found our apartment and upon opening the door, we went “wow”…
At about 90 sq metres, the apartment was pretty spacious from the little dining area with kitchenette to the sitting room, an extra large double bed in the single bedroom…
The bathroom was spacious with shower stall and toilet stall (side to side) as well as a bathtub to soak in…
The apartment was soothing in pleasant neutral shades and wood accents, there was a wood carving room divider that separated the bed from the working desk and wardrobe area… And we quickly made ourselves comfortable…
The Royale Chulan KL is a 5-star hotel comes with a beautiful large outdoor pool with lounge chairs to while time away, soaking in the sun with your eyes closed or nose buried in a book for a few minutes or couple of hours – but if you are planning to just lie there for a couple of hours with occasional dips in the pool, please be sure to slather on a strong sun screen.. There is also a jacuzzi area and a kiddies pool there…
There is also a pretty well equipped gym for you not to miss your daily workout…
I was pleasantly surprised in the evening when my doorbell rang and I opened it to half a dozen staff delivering a carrot walnut birthday cake, a fruit basket and balloons to the room… They were even armed with an Ukulele and broke into the Happy Birthday song when I pulled the door opened…
That was pretty touching and I was impressed by the effort… And oh.. The carrot walnut cake was definitely one of the best I had..
We had a pretty hearty BBQ Steamboat Buffet dinner at the Warisan Cafe… You can choose your seafood or meat and get it BBQed and sent to your table or cook your own Steamboat by selecting the ingredients and cooking it in the hotpot provided… Naturally, there are also a whole load of other sumptuous spread to indulge in besides the main offerings, as well as yummy desserts and such…
The Warisan Cafe is Royale Chulan KL’s Halal-certified restaurant… It features an open kitchen and buffet dining with a pretty generous selection of Malaysian, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, and Italian specialties, as well as other international cuisines…
And began our day with a sumptuous buffet breakfast at Warisan Cafe before checking out…
