Hotel Review 2020 – Oakwood Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur

Life in Conditional Movement Control Order or CMCO can be pretty boring.. And frustrating especially for those who are outgoing.. We want to travel but we can’t, not even in our own country..

It can be just tiresome and stressful having to just face the same 4 walls day in, day out, if you are renting a room like me, or a small apartment..

And so I jumped at the chance for a staycation review at The Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur recently…

The Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur is conveniently located on Jalan Ampang which is well known as the Embassy Row, home to many diplomatic missions and which is just a stone’s throw away from Petronas Twin Towers and Kuala Lumpur City Centre….

Checking in was a breeze, as well as selecting the choice of breakfast – from 4 different sets – we wanted to be sent direct to our room the next morning…

The Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur offers 251 units comprising of Deluxe rooms, One-Bedroom Deluxe Apartments, One-Bedroom Premier Apartments, One-Bedroom Deluxe Corner Apartments, and Two-Bedroom Family Deluxe Apartment….

There are also laundry facilities and high-speed internet in the apartments provided for the convenience of the guests. Coffee & tea making facilities and safe deposit boxes are in every apartment with the addition of a kitchenette in the Deluxe Apartments. The Premier Apartments comes with a full-sized fridge and stove.

The Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur has 3 exciting dining outlets which include TrEat Restaurant & Bar, an all-day dining that serves international cuisine (which is however closed during CMCO) and Pool Bar @ TrEat, an outdoor bar by the sizable pool to unwind with your colleagues or friends during happy hours sessions or after dinner nightcap as well as ON-THE-GO, a grab & go concept stall selling delicious pastries…

Starbucks fans can get their fix from the Starbucks DIY kiosk in the lobby…

My daughter and I got one of the one-bedroom deluxe apartments which are designed specially for business executives and couples in mind…

The spacious apartment comes with a bright and well-lit living space with the intimate dining area for two and a well-equipped kitchenette….

The cosy bedroom came with premium bedding of your choice: either a king-sized bed or twin bed(s). Our apartment came with a king-sized bed with ample pillows to give you a great night rest…

The apartment also comes with a comprehensive range of amenities, including complimentary Wi-Fi; bathroom fitted with designer toiletries, a bathtub and/or standing shower; TV with multi-channel cable service; and an electronic in-room safe.

There is a lovely and sizable outdoor swimming pool as well as a kid’s wading pool, which is however closed during CMCO…

Fitness buffs will appreciate The Fitness Center by Oakwood which is pretty well equipped and facing the pool…

When evening comes, we headed over to Pool Bar @ TrEat to indulge in their Eat & Drink All You Can which happens every Friday & Saturday night…

For just RM65 nett per person, you can enjoy 3-hour (6pm to 9pm) of bottomless beer or mocktails and snacks. You can top up additional RM28 nett per pax to get free flow of wine or stout…

While you are at it, order a plate of their Garlic Crayfish which is really supertasty…

Call or WhatsApp 010-9015783 to make your reservations…

And one other thing a lot of people appreciate about the Oakwood is the accessibility to everywhere in town, being on the busy Jalan Ampang… There is a Victoria Station restaurant just opposite the road as well as most expats or locals favorite groceries store – Hock Choon!!!

Overall, the stay is great… And we had a wonderful night there with some other friends in the next apartment…
