Trip 2025 – Majestic Johor Day 4: Discovering Pontian

Our final day on the Majestic Johor journey took us to Pontian, a district on Johor’s southwest coast, bordering Batu Pahat and Kluang. Known for its fertile lands, rich traditions, and unique natural treasures, Pontian wrapped up our trip on a sweet, soulful, and scenic note.

Amanda Pineapple Garden, Ayer Baloi

We began the morning with a refreshing visit to Amanda Pineapple Garden in Ayer Baloi. Here, pineapples aren’t just fruit—they’re a symbol of pride for Pontian.

Walking through the fields, we learned how each plant takes nearly two years to fully mature, making every juicy bite all the more precious. Of course, the best part was tasting the farm’s freshly harvested pineapples, sweet, succulent, and bursting with tropical goodness. Truly, a “sweet escape” in every sense.

Legasi Engkong Johor

Next, we slowed down for a traditional meal at Legasi Engkong Johor. Their signature nasi ambeng wasn’t just food—it was an experience.

Served on a large platter meant for sharing, the fluffy rice was surrounded by hearty dishes like ayam percik, sambal goreng glass noodles, and flavorful fried noodles, all made from recipes passed down through generations. Eating together, passing dishes around, and savoring the flavors felt like stepping into Johor’s cultural heart. Every bite carried the warmth of family, heritage, and community.

Taman Negara Johor Tanjung Piai

In the afternoon, we journeyed to Tanjung Piai National Park, the southernmost tip of mainland Asia. Here, where land meets sea and sky, we strolled along wooden boardwalks winding through lush mangrove forests. The air was filled with the calls of shorebirds and the soft murmur of waves brushing against tangled roots.

Standing at the edge of the continent, with endless views stretching across the horizon, was a surreal moment of peace. Whether for sunsets, wildlife, or reflection, Tanjung Piai leaves you with a calm that stays long after you leave.

Jermanpine Café

To end our day, we stopped by Jermanpine Café, a charming spot right at the edge of a pineapple plantation.

Beyond the delicious mix of local and western dishes, the café offered something unique, ATV rides through the plantation and even the chance to try making traditional pineapple tarts at their little shop. It was the perfect way to blend adventure, flavors, and fun into our last stop in Pontian.

Pontian gave us the perfect farewell to Johor—from sweet pineapples and soulful meals to tranquil mangroves and playful café moments. A district where nature, culture, and tradition come together, Pontian reminded us why Johor is truly majestic.

Thanks to Gaya Travel Magazine and Tourism Johor I had this amazing chance to discover parts of Majestic Johor I never thought exist or would have thought to visit!!!
