Kluang’s name was derived from the Malay translation of the word ‘bat’, which means a big bat or fruit bats. These mammals used to exist in great numbers in Kluang in the past; but now they are kind of disappearing due to hunting and also the destruction of its natural habitat…
Kluang is located in the heart of Johor State, surrounded by all regions, except Muar…
Our second day in Johor began with soft countryside hues at Labis Sunrise Farm.

Yup, we spent our night here at the Labis Sunrise Farm…

Hidden among the rolling hills of Labis, this farm lives up to its name—blanketed in morning mist and bathed in the first light of day.

When we arrived during the evening the day before , we were shown out rooms and also had a delicious dinner consisting of steamboat/ hotpot as well as seafood shellout!!!

Then we had some night fun sending off wishing lanterns and firing off fireworks…

Life at Labis Sunrise Farm moves at a slower pace. After a hearty breakfast of nasi lemak and curry puffs, we got into the mini bus for a little tour of the farm and were taken past rows of trees and crops, learned about local farming traditions, and simply soaked in the tranquillity…. We also got to meet the neighbourhood chickens and geese and befriend Hei Hei or Rainbow a very friendly fighting cock…

It is just the kind of place that makes you pause, breathe deeply, and appreciate the simple beauty of nature and even moments when the train passed by as we were trying to harvest our own guava…

Our trip there ended with a lovely fresh fruits treat including some delectable durians!!!!
From there, we continued our nature-filled morning at Taman Eko Rimba Sungai Bantang, which is actually a part of the Endau-Rompin National Park.

We got our guide who took us a good portion up the hill to see the waterfall…

The cool forest trails led us to crystal-clear streams and waterfalls, where the air was filled with the sounds of rushing water and rustling leaves. As it was the weekend, many families were seen enjoying picnics by the river, while others dipped their feet in the refreshing current.
For me, it was the perfect mix of adventure and serenity—an escape into the heart of Johor’s lush greenery.
By noon, it was time for a pick-me-up at Achi Gold Café in Segamat. The café radiates nostalgic charm, yet feels modern and inviting. Over fresh pink guava juice and a hearty meal with fresh fish from their farm…. It was the kind of place you linger slightly little longer than planned.

But again it was off on a farm tour … and we saw pandan coconut trees, pineapple plantations and musang king and black thorne durian plantations as well as pink guava plantations…

As we made our way to Kluang, we discovered Kelly Pojawani, a cosy café-meets-guesthouse that’s perfect for travellers. Its hearty meals and warm hospitality made it not just a dining stop, but also a welcoming place to rest—a home away from home for anyone journeying through Johor.
No visit to Kluang would be complete without coffee, and My Liberica Coffee Farm in Simpang Renggam was the highlight for any caffeine lover. Standing among sprawling coffee plantations, I got to trace the journey of Malaysia’s unique Liberica beans—from farm to roast to cup. The brew was bold and aromatic, enjoyed right where it all began. It felt like sipping Johor’s heritage in every cup.

We wrapped up the day at the lively Ngepot Kabin, a trendy food spot buzzing with good vibes. With its street-style flair, vibrant setting, and hearty comfort food, it was the perfect place to end the night with laughter, shared plates, and conversations that lingered long after the last sip.
From misty farms to coffee plantations and chic cafés, Day 2 of our Majestic Johor journey was a blend of rustic charm and modern delights—each stop offering its own slice of Johor’s story
