Yours truly was excited when Tourism Malaysia Central invited me along for a Travel Reinvented staycation at Four Points by Sheraton in Chinatown…

I have seen the hotel many times but have never had the chance to step foot inside…..

But whatever I was expecting, it sure exceeded my expectations… While I was at the front desk checking it at the hotel’s lobby at 7th floor, my eyes were busy looking all around me at the vibrant, rich-toned Oriental-themed interior….

The Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown is the third Four Points by Sheraton in Malaysia and the first in Kuala Lumpur….

The owner has given careful consideration from the details of the designs right up to the services offered to reflect the history and culture of Chinatown, and psst.. there are 3 F&B outlets here and all are named after the owner’s daughters….

Inspired by the Chinese migration from the Klang River to the rural country to engage in mining activities by way of water transportation, the story of olden-day Chinatown is ingrained in the very fabric of the design of the hotel. The exposed burnt brick walls; decorative floor-to-ceiling metal latticework; warm wood; and old-fashioned jade tiles are some of the symbolic choices that stand out

The lobby features dramatic bay windows overlooking the city with a vertical garden designed to welcome guests with a peaceful, calm and refreshing ambience.

The finest room is of course the Premier Suite which consist of a living area, a small bathroom, a King-sized bedroom, dressing area and the main bathroom. The bedroom was separated by a door and you’d appreciate the art pieces and carefully selected furnishings in the suite…

The living area was very pleasant, with splashes of green, red and turquoise against a wooden floor, and guests may appreciate the full length mirror which is both practical and adds on to the overall spaciousness. There is no bathtub (Four Points properties do not feature them) but you will definitely appreciate and love the large rain shower that comes with good water pressure. The room featured a good view of the surrounding precinct, and some rooms also offer views of the KL Tower and Petronas Twin Towers.

My room was the Deluxe King Room which was spacious and came with an ensuite bathroom and toilet….

The bathroom came with toiletries like shampoo, body wash, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste & toothbrush set, personal care items, hair dryer, towels.

The Four Points by Sheraton, Chinatown hotel has an outdoor splash pool that is on the other side of the hotel lobby…..

Adjacent to the pool is the fitness centre, which had has treadmills and dumbbells; what draws the eye would be the three huge Chinese opera characters posters that look a little out of place in a gym but which  unmistakably adds a very local feel to your workout…

Located on the same floor is the hotel bar, which has both indoor and outdoor seating areas. I opted for the latter as it was approaching sunset, and enjoyed views of the KL skyline.

Getting around the city is made convenient with a less then 5 minute short walk to Pasar Seni MRT (Mass Rapid Transport) and LRT (Light Rail Transit) stations  or even the Maharajalela Monorail Station (about 10 minutes)
