Our third day in Johor brought us deeper into the heart of Batu Pahat, also known as Bandar Penggaram.
With a history tracing back to the 15th century, this charming town carries a fascinating legend. It is said that during the reign of the Melaka Sultanate, Siamese forces once retreated here after a battle. In desperation, they tried chiseling rocks along the coast in search of fresh water , an act that gave the town its name, Batu Pahat (literally, “chiseled rock”). Today, that resilience and connection to the sea still echo through Batu Pahat’s culture and spirit.
Taman Eko Rimba Gunung Lambak – Nature’s Refreshing Escape
Rising gracefully over Kluang, Gunung Lambak greeted us with lush rainforest trails, the sound of flowing streams, and the kind of fresh mountain air that makes every step worth it. Whether you’re hiking up for panoramic views or simply enjoying a shady picnic by the stream, this eco-park is a soul-soothing escape. I loved how the forest wrapped us in tranquillity while still offering a little adventure.
Hill & Heal Café – A Cozy Hideaway on the Mountain

After the hike, we found ourselves at the dreamy Hill & Heal Café, nestled right at Gunung Lambak.

The vibe was cosy, breezy, and a little magical — with comforting drinks, tasty bites, and views that could calm any tired soul. Whether you’re hiking, dating, or just hanging out with friends, this café feels like a little pocket of joy on the mountain.
Arena Warna, Ayer Hitam – A Burst of Colour & Energy
Next stop: Arena Warna in Ayer Hitam, a vibrant evening bazaar that buzzed with colours, flavours, and community spirit. From handmade crafts and fashion finds to irresistible street food, it was like stepping into a festival where every corner had something new to see, taste, or try. Ayer Hitam’s warmth truly shines here — it’s more than just a market, it’s a celebration of local creativity.
Kedai Makan Pak Luruh Bistro – Johor Flavours with Heart

When we started getting hungry called, we headed to Pak Luruh Bistro. This local gem served up hearty, authentic Johor dishes in a welcoming, homely atmosphere. Every plate felt like it was made with love, and the generous portions left us more than satisfied.
It’s the kind of place that makes you feel instantly at home , and definitely one you’ll want to revisit.
Yok BP Cruise – Batu Pahat from the Water

One of the highlights of the day was the Yok BP Cruise, Batu Pahat’s very first river cruise service. Launched in late 2024, it offers a refreshing way to explore the town’s landmarks from the water.
As we drifted past sights like Batu Pahat Port, the Old Japanese Club, and Si Hai Long Wang Temple, the mangrove views added a touch of serene beauty, and seeing a crocodile at the riverbanks added some excitement with a hint of fear…

The “Layar Seri” sunset package, where you can charter a private boat, is especially magical for special occasions.
Pantai Minyak Beku – ATV Thrills & Golden Sunsets
The evening took us to Pantai Minyak Beku, where the adventure began with ATV rides along the little limestone hill.

The thrill of the ride was perfectly balanced by the serenity of watching the sun dip into the horizon, painting the sky in shades of gold and crimson. It was one of those moments where nature and adventure blended seamlessly… an experience I’ll never forget.
BP Walk – Lights, Murals & Evening Vibes

We wrapped up the night at BP Walk, where colourful murals and playful light installations brought the streets to life. It was the perfect spot for a casual stroll, soaking in the creative energy of Batu Pahat before calling it a day.
✨ Day 3 in Johor was a journey of contrasts — from misty rainforest trails to colourful bazaars, historic riverside cruises, seaside adventures, and lively evening walks. Batu Pahat truly showed us its many faces: resilient, vibrant, and full of surprises
