On 29 August 2025, I had the chance to soak in the Merdeka spirit at LaLaport BBCC Kuala Lumpur, where Larrie and Geox came together to host a vibrant Independence Day celebration. The event was a wonderful blend of fashion, culture, and shopping… and it truly brought the essence of Merdeka to life.

Larrie’s Merdeka Celebration
The festivities kicked off with Larrie’s Merdeka-themed showcase, where fashion met cultural pride. I loved how the collection drew inspiration from Malaysia’s heritage while weaving in modern elements, a stylish reflection of tradition meeting today’s lifestyle. The highlight for me was watching the cultural performances that followed. From graceful traditional dances to lively musical acts, each performance celebrated the unity and diversity that make Malaysia special.

Cultural Performances & Mini Merdeka Games
The cultural shows were a joy to watch, but the mini Merdeka-themed games were equally engaging. Families, kids, and even adults joined in – it was heartwarming to see everyone laughing and having fun while still celebrating our national pride. The games added a playful and interactive touch to the event, making it more than just a shopping or fashion showcase.

Shoes Fair at Centre Court
One of my favourite parts of the day was browsing through the curated shoes fair at the Centre Court. The variety of footwear on display was impressive – stylish, comfortable, and practical. Whether it was trendy sneakers, sleek formal shoes, or casual everyday pairs, there was something for everyone. It felt like the perfect spot to update my wardrobe while staying in the Merdeka mood.

The Grand Opening of Geox
The celebration wrapped up with the much-anticipated grand opening of Geox’s brand-new store at LaLaport. The store itself was sleek and inviting, and I got to witness live demonstrations of Geox’s innovative breathable footwear technology – which was fascinating to see in action. To top it off, there were exclusive opening offers that made the shopping experience even more exciting.

The event wasn’t just about fashion and shopping; it was about celebrating Merdeka in a way that felt festive, stylish, and community-driven. Between the cultural performances, fun games, and the chance to explore both Larrie’s fashion showcase and Geox’s new store, the day was a memorable one.
It truly felt like celebrating Malaysia’s independence in style – a perfect mix of heritage, pride, and modern lifestyle at LaLaport BBCC Kuala Lumpur.
