Event 2026 – Macao Takes Centre Stage as International Favourite Destination at MATTA Fair April 2026

Travel enthusiasts, mark your calendars. The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) is set to bring the world closer to Malaysians once again as the highly anticipated MATTA Fair April 2026 returns from 3 to 5 April 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

Recognised as Malaysia’s largest consumer travel fair, this 58th edition promises to be bigger and more exciting than ever, with Macao stepping into the spotlight as the International Favourite Destination.

A Travel Fair Like No Other

Spanning an impressive 40,820 square metres across 10 halls, MATTA Fair April 2026 will host 2,043 booths from 330 participating organisations. Visitors can explore offerings from 210 tour and travel agencies, alongside a diverse lineup of global and local players including National Tourism Organisations, State Tourism Organisations, hotels, resorts, theme parks, and other travel service providers.

Whether you’re planning a quick regional escape or a long-haul adventure, the fair is designed as a one-stop destination for inspiration, deals, and expert travel insights.

Macao in the Spotlight

This year, all eyes are on Macao, returning for the second consecutive year as the International Favourite Destination. Known for its dynamic blend of heritage, world-class entertainment, and vibrant culinary scene, Macao continues to capture the interest of Malaysian travellers.

The destination’s tourism performance reflects its growing appeal. In January 2026 alone, Macao recorded 3.65 million visitor arrivals, with international arrivals reaching 278,000 — a strong 15.5% year-on-year increase. Notably, Malaysian visitor numbers surged by an impressive 52.3%, highlighting the destination’s rising popularity. With hotel occupancy rates at 91.6%, Macao’s tourism recovery remains robust and full of momentum.

Visitors to MATTA Fair can expect to discover curated “tourism +” experiences from Macao, combining culture, gastronomy, entertainment, and unique travel offerings tailored specifically for Malaysian travellers.

Riding the Wave of Travel Growth

The strong performance of destinations like Macao mirrors a broader global trend — the resurgence of international travel. Closer to home, Malaysia is setting ambitious goals with its Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, targeting 47 million international arrivals, with current projections already reaching 44 to 45 million.

This growing appetite for travel underscores MATTA’s role not only in promoting inbound tourism but also in supporting Malaysians’ passion for exploring the world.

As highlighted by MATTA’s leadership, Malaysians are natural explorers — and events like MATTA Fair serve as a gateway to rediscovering global destinations filled with culture, excitement, and unforgettable experiences.
