Raising Breast Cancer Awareness Through Early Detection, Community Education and Complimentary Screenings

In conjunction with Pink October 2026, The Westin Kuala Lumpur and Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur have announced a meaningful collaboration to raise awareness about breast cancer and highlight the importance of early detection through a series of community-focused initiatives throughout October.

As someone who believes that health and well-being are important parts of living life to the fullest, I think initiatives like this are a great reminder for all of us to take charge of our health, stay informed and make time for regular health screenings.

Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness in Malaysia

The launch of this collaboration was supported by the Breast Cancer Welfare Association of Malaysia (BCWA) and Cancer Research Malaysia, two organisations dedicated to supporting breast cancer patients and advancing cancer research in the country.

As part of the launch, BCWA conducted breast screenings for hotel employees and guests, while both organisations shared valuable insights into their respective efforts in supporting patients, raising awareness and contributing to cancer research in Malaysia.

Breast cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among women worldwide. While it is more commonly associated with women, men can also develop breast cancer. This makes awareness, education and early detection important for everyone.

Breast Cancer Awareness Health Talk on 17 October 2026

One of the key highlights of the Pink October initiative is a public Breast Cancer Awareness Health Talk organised by Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur at The Westin Kuala Lumpur on 17 October 2026.

The health talk will bring together specialists in breast surgery, radiology and oncology to share important information about breast health, early detection, screening options and available treatments.

Participants will also have the opportunity to hear a breast cancer survivor share her personal journey, offering a meaningful perspective on the challenges and experiences of living with breast cancer.

To further encourage early detection, complimentary breast screenings conducted by healthcare professionals from Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur will also be available to participants.

It is a valuable opportunity for members of the public to learn more about breast health, ask questions and better understand the importance of regular screening.
