If you love horror, immersive experiences and a good scare, Nights Of Fright® is back at Sunway Lagoon with its 12th edition, and this year’s theme is taking things in a whole new direction.
Nights Of Fright® 12: APE-OCALYPSE runs from 25 September to 7 November 2026, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7.30PM to 11.30PM, transforming Sunway Lagoon into an immersive world filled with themed attractions, interactive experiences, live entertainment and plenty of frights.
Welcome to APE-OCALYPSE
At the centre of this year’s edition is APE-OCALYPSE, a new creative direction where civilisation has fallen and the apes have taken control.
But there’s much more than one central storyline. Nights Of Fright® 12 brings together horror and pop-culture influences from around the world, including Japanese folklore, cult horror, twisted fairytales, manga, K-pop culture and Southeast Asian supernatural folklore.
So instead of experiencing just one type of horror, visitors can explore different worlds and genres throughout the night.
New Horror Attractions to Explore
One of the things that makes NOF 12 interesting is its mix of brand-new concepts and experiences, giving returning visitors new nightmares to discover while keeping the event fresh for first-timers.
Among the attractions this year are:
Yokai Road – inspired by Japanese folklore and supernatural creatures.
The Freezer: Fresh Meat – taking guests inside a chilling meat processing facility.
Little Shop of Horrors: Manga UV 3D – combining classic horror with manga-inspired aesthetics, ultraviolet effects and immersive 3D visuals.
The (Not-So) Wonderful Wizard of OZ – giving a familiar fairytale a much darker interpretation.
The Romeos & Juliet – exploring obsession, jealousy and murder against a K-pop-inspired backdrop.
Horrorwood Wax Studios – bringing together horror icons, wax figures and immersive environments.
Returning attractions include Return to Silent Hill, which takes visitors back into the cursed streets of Silent Hill, while Scarytales Immersive Theatre: Pontianak vs. Pocong: Origins brings Malaysian and Southeast Asian supernatural folklore into an immersive theatrical experience.
More Than Just Horror
What I like about the concept of Nights Of Fright® is that the experience goes beyond simply walking through haunted attractions.
For Opening Fright weekend from 25 to 27 September 2026, visitors can enjoy a series of limited-time interactive experiences.
At Little Shop of Horrors, there is a themed photo booth where guests can take pictures, share them on social media and redeem a complimentary pack of Venus flytrap seeds, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
Over at Wishes Upon A Daruma, guests who spend a minimum of RM100 at selected Nights Of Fright® F&B or retail outlets can redeem a complimentary Mini Daruma.
There is also the Mystery Box Challenge, where visitors can test their instincts by identifying which NOF 12 attraction each mystery box represents.
For something a little different, The Oracle Table offers complimentary tarot readings, while collectors can take part in the Nights Of Fright® Trading Card experience. The first 50 guests to complete their collection can redeem a mystery gift, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
And if you still have energy after all those scares, DJ Reeve will be taking over the Sunway Lagoon Main Stage during opening weekend with a live DJ set.
International Horror Meets Malaysian Storytelling
Nights Of Fright® is also the result of a longstanding creative collaboration between Sunway Lagoon and The Sudden Impact! Entertainment Company, bringing international creative expertise together with Sunway Lagoon’s local production capabilities.
For this year’s edition, the creative direction behind APE-OCALYPSE draws inspiration from Mad Max and The Planet of the Apes, while the wider attraction line-up explores different horror genres, visual styles and cultural influences.
The result is a combination of international immersive entertainment, Malaysian creativity and Southeast Asian folklore.
