Stay: B&J Guest House in Seoul, Korea

B&J Guest House is also known as the  Open Guest House. It is a lovely renovated Korean courtyard type house located just about 350 m from Hansung University Subway /Seoul Metro Station (Line 4)

Address: 105-19, Seongbuk-dong 1-ga, Seongbuk-gu, Gangbuk, Seoul, South Korea

B&J Guest House promises and they actually deliver the promise of  ‘Clean Beds’ ‘Clean Bathoom’ and Clean Common Areas’ to all their guests. It was my home in Seoul for the duration of 4 nights and I really enjoyed the hospitality give by Danny and Jina

B&J Guesthouse offers basic breakfast and the use of the shared 24-hour kitchen which  comes with a microwave, induction cooker, toaster  and water purifier. And there is fresh bread, milk, eggs, nutella and strawberry jam there. There are also coffee and tea making facilities there…

The rooms are quite simply furnished but cosy and comfortable… all rooms are fitted with air-conditioning, heating and a TV. Some rooms have a shared bathroom and toilet. and there are private lockers included, but for my room, we had the toilet all to ourselves.

B&J guesthouse provides laundry services and fax facilities. There is also a lovely garden there where my daughters and I just enjoyed having our breakfast and relaxing there in the morning.

There is a lovely dining table and lounge area as well..

Our room had a double decker bed which my younger daughter decided the top bunk was to hers, and my elder daughter decided to take the bottom bunk…

..and it also came with one very comfortable bed… I definitely had comfortable sleep there….

I stayed at the B&J Guesthouse for four nights and five days and it was a comfortable stay.

But if you are expecting someone to clean up after you or service, do not expect it. Just treat it as your ‘home’ and clean up after yourself. You have to tidy up your bed and take your own trash out and make your own breakfast..

There are several restaurants and bars within a 5-minute walk from the guesthouse. And there is also a 7 Eleven not too far away opposite the road from the Subway Exit…

Getting there…Take the Subway/ Seoul Metro Line 4 to Hansung University Subway Exit no.5. From Exit no.5, you need to just turn left toward main road and see ‘Moment Bar’ on your right side. At the same time, you can see ‘KIA Motors and S-Oil’ on the opposite side of road.

When you see ‘Moment Bar’and a beauty store with girdles and other beauty items located just next to ‘Moment Bar’, just go straight for about 50 meters and pass by a traditional Korean costume shop with a beautiful hanbok on display . There are a couple of nice looking cafes as well..Continue walking until you reach the Samhwa painting shop on your right side.

At Samwha painting shop, stop walking and you will see a old city wall at front, there are two side streets on your right side, take one has little hill and look upward to see the Hyehwamun north east old Gate. Walk toward the old gate..  do not take the other street(one way).

Follow the road up the hill and you will come across a small park with a pretty gazebo on your left side, at the end of a tiny park, you turn right and you will see the sign ‘B&J Guest House’

If you are somehow lost, you can call the guesthouse and Jina or someone from the guesthouse  will meet up with you and show you the way… Jina speaks good English and is very helpful too…

I will definitely decide on staying here again if I come back to Korea…

Another reason to stay here is because it is quite close to the Line 4 Subway/ Seoul Metro line where you can easily access Daehangno University Street or the Marronier Park at Hyehwa Station;  Dongdaemun Design Plaza or all those shopping area of Dongdaemun; Myeong dong; Namsangol Hanok Village and N Seoul Tower at Chungmuro Station; Namdaemun Market at Hoehyeon Station; The War Memorial of Korea at Samgakji Station; The National Museum of Korea at Icheon Station; Oido Island or even Seoul Grand Park, Seoul Land and Seoul Zoo at the Seoul Grand Park Station… Just hop on the Subway /Seoul Metro and you can get there without having to change another line… very convenient…. and it was because of this we were at Myeong dong three nights in a row and Dongdaemun two nights in a row… LOL

So go on and check it out for your trip to Seoul….. Prices start from just around RM120 for a room for 2…
