Review 2024 – Samsung Galaxy A35 5G – First Impression

I am so thrilled to get my new Samsung Galaxy A35 5G! And with that this is gonna be my first impression kinda review as I just barely had the phone out of the box and am still slowly familiarising myself to it…

However, with new colour choices and a much anticipated security upgrade – the Samsung Knox Vault, I think the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G is going to change the way mid-range smartphones are viewed….

The recently released Samsung Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G are two smartphones that is demonstrating Samsung’s ongoing commitment to making the best of mobile innovations available to everyone.

Both devices come with extensive security features such as Knox Vault, as well as new photography capabilities inspired by Galaxy’s flagship camera innovations and a stunning display that adjusts to users’ surroundings with Vision Booster.

At a quick glance, the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G could be mistaken with the Galaxy S24. Upon closer look, you will realise that there are variations made to the phone to differentiate it from the other models.

It has the same straight edge as the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy S Series and comes with a matte edge that is comfortable to hold, and my Ice Blue phone looks pretty cool in a light pastel blue kinda shade…..

My Samsung Galaxy A35 5G is pretty elegant and sleek except for the raised bump on the sides where the power and volume buttons are, giving it a unique touch….

Galaxy A35 5G is said to offer the incredible photography capabilities that Samsung Galaxy is renowned for, including features such as optical image stabilization (OIS) and video digital image stabilization (VDIS) that keep photos and videos crisp even when filming on the go, something I need when working as a content creator…

It is definitely a lot of fun watching my Netflix shows or scrolling Tiktok and IG with the Super AMOLED display as it is really clear in Full High Definition thanks to Vision Booster.

It is a great relief knowing Samsung Knox Vault is safeguarding our encrypted data separately from the main operating system, which is a welcome addition for all of us who are concerned about keeping our details safe with all the hackers and scammers around….

One of the features is the Auto Blocker. When switched on, it can block app installations from unauthorised sources, provide app security checks to scan for potential malware and block potentially malicious commands and software installations to the device while connected by USB cable.

Totally grateful to get easy, always-on, auto protection from software attacks, especially in today’s age where we frequently use online banking..
Some of the main features include :
*Blocks unknown apps
*Turns on app security checks
*Block commands by USB cable

*Commands , KeyString
*Messaging app protection from malicious images containing malware

*Block software updates by USB cable

It also boast proprietary Samsung Knox, a multi-layer security platform to protect sensitive data such as passwords, and credit/debit card details stored in the phone from cyber threats such as malware…

The Samsung Knox comes EAL5+ certified by each country’s national institution called CCRA; is resistant to HW attacks using high-cost equipment and protects your PIN, passwords, patterns.

It also has the Smart Call feature so you do bot have to keep staring at your phone wondering if you should pick up or not. Now you can report or block spam calls with ease. The Smart Call function lets you know who’s calling even when the number isn’t on your contact list. Before or after you respond to a spam call, you can choose to block or report the number so you won’t be harassed twice.

The new Samsung Galaxy A series feature a Security and Privacy Dashboard. It is a one-stop destination for the phone owner to control which app is accessing the phone’s data, microphone and camera and if need be, withdraw the permissions.

And, the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G comes with a 5,000mAh battery. With full charge, it can last for a whole day under extreme usage

After going through the pain of having my phone’s (a competitor brand) back glass in pieces and having to pay heftily to replace it, am really grateful to hear that Samsung has used premium aluminium metal for the frame around the corners and high grade Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ shield on the display and also on the back panel. With these protection, the device is said to be able to survive accidental drops on the floor and is more scratch-resistant than before.

The IP67 rating, which means the Galaxy A35 can survive when dropped in water for up to one metre (around 3.2 feet) depth for close to 30 minutes is also heaven sent since I travel a lot and often get into the rain or near the pool or beach….

The Samsung Galaxy A35 5G comes with Samsung’s 5nm Exynos 1380 octa-core processor with 8GB RAM, and 128GB/256GB storage.

The new phone runs Android 14-based One UI 6.1 OS. The company has promised to offer a minimum of four years of Android OS updates (up to 2028) and an additional year of software security support (for up to 2029). This ensures the device can serve the customer for at least half a decade.

The new Samsung Galaxy A35 5G houses a triple-camera module– main 50MP (f/1.8, autofocus and OIS: Optical Image stabilisation) backed by 8MP ultra-wide camera (f/2.2) and a 5MP macro camera (f/2.4) with LED flash on the back. On the front, it houses a 13MP camera (f/2.2).

As you can see the sample photos, the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G performance is great in the natural sunlight and indoors with little light.

But, I am excited to check out how the Samsung phone performs at night, and other aspects such as portrait mode and ultra-wide angle mode

For the price, the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G looks promising, but there are still plenty of other features that I haven’t had the chance to explore on the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G, so do keep an eye out for the full review in the coming weeks..
