Hotel Review 2023 – The George , Georgetown Penang

I had a decidedly wonderful stay at the new five-star boutique hotel in Georgetown – The George…

When I was invited to review this hotel, I was also puzzling to myself and asking some friends where it was.. And it wasn’t until I was strolling along Penang Road when I came across an impressive colonial style kind of hotel which I never seen before!!!!

Well, the last time I was back in Penang, I think that particar block was boarded up…. and is just so strategically located right across the road from the famous Line Clear Nasi Kandar, and where traffic from Chulia Street and Penang Road merges at the intersection…

And it is obvious that this new hotel is also a new icon and landmark with both locals and tourists stopping to grab a few photos of it every few minutes, not that I could blame them as The George definitely looks really photogenic…

The George boasts 30 suites and 62 rooms spanning four floors (but with the Chinese culture, and superstitions the management team did away with the fourth floor, so there is no fourth floor in the hotel)

The hotel comes with facilities that include a saltwater swimming pool, nice gymnasium, and his and her steam baths!!!

My stay was at the Executive Suite which actually doubles up as a family room with its king bed and sofa bed with another draw-away bed, so up to four persons can share this room.

The executive suite comes with a living room with a two-seater sofa (bed) and chair for extra personal space.

The George’s Executive Suite overlooks GeorgeTown’s vibrant cityscape amd my room was just in the centre looking out at the intersection where traffic from Chulia Street and Penang Road merges … giving me a princess in the tower kinda vibe…

And in the evening, there is the personalised The George Turn Down Service and The George Drinking Water places at the side tables

My room was definitely spacious, cosy and comfortable enough for me to stay indoors the whole day long, except when I needed to find food which was definitely plentiful all around the vicinity.

The toilet in my bathroom actually comes with a heated toilet seat that also dries your bum bum with warm air like the ones you can find in Japan!!!

There is a soft plush mat to stand on while brushing your teeth or doing your skin care routine and the bath tub is just…… sighhhh… perfect!!!!

There are two F&B spots at The George on the ground floor – The George Bar a quiet cosy place for drinks and chit chats and near the reception area and Saffron Dining, the all-day venue that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner near the entrance and noticeable from the intersection….

The accompanying buffet breakfast at Saffron Dining was pretty good and I enjoyed it pretty much….

Overall, it was an amazing and unforgettable stay which I would love to repeat when possible!!!!
