So the other evening my friends and I decided to head over to Restoran Sisik Ikan Bakar, supposedly famous for their ikan bakar/baked fish…
Restoran Sisik, located right in front of the GM Klang Wholesale City was formally known as Resipi Warisan Tok, and they pride themselves in serving authentic Malay cuisine… The owners have a mixture of Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and Melaka bloodlines and so it would be the main reason you can find some of the different styles of cooking and the name of the dishes that originates from these four states..
The restaurant operates from as early as 8am, to cater to the morning breakfast crowd and will serve traditional Malay dishes right until about 4.30pm…
Then from 5pm to 12.30am, the menu will be focused on seafood, with ikan bakar berempah(spicy baked fish); ikan bakar tempoyak (baked fish with fermented durian) ; baked squid, bamboo clams, clams and a generous assortment of seafood as well as Patin (a slightly more premium river cat fish)
The restaurant also serves some assam pedas using their heritage recipes, which happens to be on of the popular dishes in Restoran Sisik.. Normally, guests will order the barramundi, cuttlefish egg or mayong fish egg with the assam pedas gravy…
Another of this restaurant’s speciality would be their Nasi Lemak Buluh Perindu… Some rice steamed with coconut milk wrapped in leaves and steamed inside the bamboo, which makes a perfect accompaniment to the baked fishes or assam pedas dishes….
The restaurant also has steamboat for those who love a simple and healthier dinner…
Personally I did enjoy the Nasi Lemak Buluh Perindu and the Siakap Ikan Bakar Berempah (Spicy Baked Barramundi) which was pretty good…
Well, do give it a try and let me know what you think about it…
