For one of my dear friend, Faiz’s birthday, we decided to head over to Desaru and check into the new Four Points by Sheraton Desaru…

The Four Points by Sheraton Desaru which opened in November 2021 is nestled conveniently in the middle of Bandar Penawar close to two-storey shop lots, local grocery stores, a small mall, restaurants and cafes… this was definitely a pleasant surprise as I alway think that hotels should be close to some convenience shops and this is beyond just convenient….
The journey to Four Points by Sheraton Desaru was just about 50 minutes on the scenic Senai-Desaru Highway from Johor Bahru (and also JPO – we headed to JPO before going home , so I know )

The hotel was simple looking from the outside but enter the lobby and you’d be wowed…
The reception was set against a backdrop of a wooden four-tier built-in bookcase that was definitely eye catching and which evoked the feeling of nostalgia with most of our favourite Malaysian childhood games such as sepak takraw, congkak, a miniature “Wau” kite and a miniature kuda kepang.

And who can miss the golden chandelier, made from many golden “rattan hand fans” hanging from the ceiling

Four Points by Sheraton Desaru has a total of 311 rooms designed with spaciousness and comfort in mind… I checked in to the Premium King room, which offers 516 sq ft….

My room came in shades of beige, white and blue… it was super spacious and had a plush King-sized bed and a comfy sofa bed and a table which you can use for work or dining…
There’s also a TV, two closets, two nightstands, and a bar with a mini-fridge right below it.

My balcony door opens to a breathtaking view of the highways, the hills, the shops in front, and the swimming pool below…. I was told that on a good day, I can see sunset but sadly on the days I was there, the sun decided to take a break from giving us the breathtaking sunset performance…

Guests can choose from five types of rooms , all which offer the Four Points by Sheraton’s signature Comfort Bed , super plush XL sized pillows and of course, high-speed Wi-Fi so you can get stay connected on your social media or work…
If you have kids, do opt for the Family Room, which also offers a kids tent, a small mattress in the tent, soft toys and such….

There is an outdoor swimming pool as well as a small kids pool and play area for families with small kids….

There is also a fitness centre, a games room and multiple meeting rooms/ ballrooms to suit your needs for any meetings, events and social gatherings—the Wave Grand Ballroom can sit up to 400 guests while the Breeze Junior Ballroom can sit up to 300 guests….

There’s only one restaurant at Four Points by Sheraton Desaru which is called the The Mesh, (yours truly was slightly while reading the logo – I was like huh? Themesh???) The Mesh is an interesting venue actually… it is a dining, working, lounge and bar – all in one.
The one place to rule them all… ehhh… I mean the dining space which is the place to be at to settle those hunger pangs or to have your hotel breakfast, to “cuci mata” (oogle at other good looking guests) – half kidding, and to unwind….
What’s there to do at Four Points By Sheraton Desaru???!!

Other then to work, rest, play games at Coral 2 Games Room, going for a nice sauna, swimming or doing your workout honing those muscles etc at the hotel fitness centre, you can also opt for Four Points by Sheraton Desaru Stay & Play or Splash & Bash packages from your Marriott Bonvoy app if you are a Marriott Bonvoy member…..

The Stay & Play Package entitles you to a stay at the Deluxe Room, free Buffet Breakfast and two rounds of 18-hole golf flight at the ELS Club Desaru Coast

The Splash & Bash Package entitles you to a stay at a Deluxe Room, free Buffet Breakfast and two tickets to Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast
Or if you are a foodie like me, get the Earn, Eat Enjoy package…. Where you can get an additional RM40 hotel credit to indulge in the yummy food The Mesh offers!!!!
No transport? No worries… Four Points by Sheraton Desaru provides a complimentary shuttle service for in-house guests….

Running at an hourly interval, you can actually head over to sister property, The Westin Desaru Coast to enjoy the beach there to the Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast or The ELS Club Desaru Coast….

Located inside the Desaru Coast resort compound, the Adventure Waterpark is great place to visit if you’re travelling with your fun loving friends or family members. It offers a fun mix of pools and slides, perfect for kids and adults.

I had always wanted to go on the Kraken’s Revenge and finally got to go twice on the part-roller coaster and part-flume ride!!!!

The ELS Club was designed by the four-time major champion Ernie Els, and is situated overlooking the South China Sea … it is said to be one of the most beautiful golfing spots in the world.

Even if you are a beginner like me looking to try golfing, you can head to the state-of-the-art golf academy where you can learn straight from a professional and practise your swing on real grass….
As mentioned, at Four Points by Sheraton Desaru, you want for nothing!!! The SKS City Mall, KFC, Family Mart, and Mr. DIY are all just walking distance away!!!!

The only thing some people complain would be not having a beach view but otherwise, the Four Points by Sheraton Desaru wows me by being so much more then I expected and I certainly had more fun then I expect to have… so yes, highly recommended and am planning my trip back here!!!!!
