The Rentak Selangor (Rhythms of Selangor) programme which began back in 2016, was focused to promote and enliven performing arts, culture and inheritance from different ethnics living in the state of Selangor, Malaysia on the performance stage…

The programme also gives food for thought to those living in the state of Selangor and general public, and especially to the younger generation who are in line to inherit the rich culture from their ancestors

As we all know very well, the Covid-19 pandemic which has affected the whole world has not only taken a toll on the world’s economy but it has also changed the livelihood of communities…. And so it is with much hope that programmes organised as such as the Rentak Selangor or Rhythms of Selangor can at least enable the cultural art performers in Selangor some exposure as well as a way to continue with the new normal….

This year’s Rentak Selangor or Rhythms of Selangor programme has been implemented in a new format, which is in the form of digital recording and Live on social media platforms, all in place with the standard operating procedures from the Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) and Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN) to lessen physical contact…
This proactive step is also in line with the state government’s effort to explore digital initiatives with the intent of giving more opportunities and benefits to the public especially the future generations…

Rentak Selangor showcases the variety of heritage cultural arts which has been practised for generations by the local community in Selangor, which are the Malays, the Chinese, the Indians as well as the Indigenous people with the Cempuling music which have been identified as Selangor state’s identity as well as the angklung, gendang 9 (9 drums) and lion dance…

YB Tuan Borhan Aman Shah who is the Selangor State Executive Councillor for Malay Culture and Heritage, Rural Development and Traditional Village says that Rentak Selangor which has been organised digitally for the first time is an effort to help promote the variety of rich cultural performances in Selangor during the Movement Control Order period…

It is with much hope that we can all watch, enjoy and celebrate the rich cultural arts and performance which has been handed down through generations…
