One of my most favourite activity in Langkawi would have to be Mega Water Sports Jet Ski Tours when visiting I am over in Langkawi, Malaysia…..

It is such a refreshing change of instead of being seated on a boat and just trying to get your best angle for photos, this is your chance to be in charge and have fun steering your own jetski while seeing amazing nature up close and personal

Those who know Langkawi, will know that Langkawi is made up of 99 islands (some say 101 or more) and none of us can tour all 101 of them in a day so some planned tour routes by Mega Water Sports will come in fun and handy….
The difference between Jet Ski Tours and regular ones is the freedom involved – on a jet ski you can be a Minah Rempit rider like me, ehhh., feel the wind in your hair and face and the waves splashing at you…. And even raindrops slapping you, when it rains), and you won’t get lost as you’ll be accompanied by an experienced tour guide.

The tour lead will begin by introducing himself and briefing every member of the tour on the travel plan and formation, safety briefing including the hand signals (when to slow down or stop jet ski engine) and last but not least on how to operate the jet ski right before the start of the tour

Non-swimmers are also able to sign up, as you will be wearing your life jackets , but just make sure your guides know during the safety briefing prior to the tour. Even children aged four to seven can participate in the Three Island Tour, so put your worries aside and go for it!

My favourite tour and also the most popular tour would be the one with Pulau Dayang Bunting or the Island of the Pregnant Maiden, the star attraction of Tour 2 which last 4 hours!!!

Pulau Dayang Bunting or the Island of the Pregnant Maiden is the second largest
island within the Langkawi archipelago and it actually has the largest islandic fresh water lake in Malaysia…..

The Tasik Dayang Bunting or Pregnant Maiden Lake is separated from the sea by a very thin ridge of limestone. And legend claims that the lake bestows fertility upon barren women.

The outline of hills and rocky outcrops on a certain side of the lake resembles the shape of pregnant maiden lying on her back…

You will be given about 50 mins to enjoy Dayang Bunting Island… the entrance fee to this geopark has been taken care off, so you can just explore the island’s attractions which include jungle trekking, kayaking, paddle boats (might have some extra charges) or have a dip in the lake…..

The trip will also bring you to various small islands for you to enjoy the raw beauty of nature and the surroundings…..

There’s “The Fjords” a small cluster of islands about 1 nautical mile from Dayang Bunting Island which has been named by yachties. The scenery here is well worth the trip there…. This area is safe from any tsunami, huge waves, storms and is a little hidden haven and you can hear echoes too ..

I love it when we get to tour some of the rocky limestone outcrops along the way and see strange craggy and breathtaking formations ….

Then there is the Pulau Singa Besar or Big Lion Island where you can see eagles – normally Brahminy Kites as well as some White Bellied Sea Eagles thronging the place in search for some food, offered by some boatman in the form of chicken entrails and skin… a misplaced and not recommended behavior as it actually does more harm then good to the birds…

Then there will also be a stop at the Beras Basah Island or Wet Rice Island where you can swim, take a dip and enjoy island life….

Megawatersports offers two trips per day which is Morning Tour starts at 9.00 A.M and ends around 1.00 P.M whereas the Afternoon Tour starts at 2.00 P.M and ends around 6.00 P.M.
It is important and advisable to arrive at the MegaWaterSports booth at Cenang Beach about 30 minutes earlier to fill up forms, keep your belongings, warm up and getting ready for the trip…..

Do wear your swim wear , preferably comfortable rashguards and shorts or t shirt and boardshorts and bring along your bottle of water, sun block, and some cash money. (Each jet ski will have ample storage compartment and Megawatersports will loan out water booties and a wetbag to keep your things dry)
