REXPERIENCE (RXP.KL) is an immersive digital art gallery opening soon in the former cinema hall of REXKL, the creative and cultural hub in downtown Kuala Lumpur, starting with their first multi-artist exhibition, “Other World” on 20 September 2023.

RXP.KL will be transforming the historic REX Cinema—once the cultural epicentre of Petaling Street— into a modern, immersive art space.

We had an opportunity to experience it recently and the way they intergrate cutting-edge digital art pretty much blew me away …. It was definitely a mind blowing experience !!!

RXP.KL aims to spark curiosity, foster a sense of wonder and exploration, and make art accessible to all. RXP.KL has made a significant commitment to this new media. By allocating millions of Ringgit in immersive audiovisual, motion capture, and sensor technologies, RXP.KL is now able to craft immersive experiences in its 8,800 sq. ft. former cinema hall, enriching the diverse art, culture, and food landscape of REXKL’s expansive 60,000 sq. ft. space.

RXP.KL’s inaugural exhibit, “Other World” is a groundbreaking digital art experience that redefines traditional art-viewing.

This immersive journey takes visitors through cosmic, natural, urban, and abstract dimensions, offering a transcendent escape into realms of enchantment and creativity.

With three main immersive exhibits and interludes for reflection, the one-hour show promises a transformative experience that honours the limitless possibilities of art.

Awe-Inspiring Journeys in “Annihilation” by Colas Fiszman and Jonas Margraf; where dance, technology, and music intertwine to create a captivating narrative. Delve into a realm where innovation and consequences merge, painting a vivid picture of humanity’s complex relationship with technology. Experience the immersive tale that resonates deeply.

Unveiling Nature’s Hidden Geometry in “Foreign Nature” by Julius Horsthuis and Ben Lukas Boysen; is an exploration of intricate fractals that unveil the hidden geometry of the universe. These mesmerising fractals transcend mere creation, inviting you to wonder in new dimensions and discover nature’s mathematical marvels.

Traditional Masterpieces Revived in “Yume” by Fahmi Hosnan and Ashish Khilnani come alive, bridging history and innovation. Witness traditional masterpieces reimagined through projection and motion, forging a connection between past and present. From delicate landscapes to the iconic The Great Wave off Kanagawa, experience a symphony of treasures that redefines the boundaries of artistic expression.

Intermittent interlude artworks between shows by both global and local artists will provide moments of contemplation and connection, ensuring a complete and immersive experience.
